Maternity and Child Benefit - Citizenship Application

Post by mr.inquirer » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:59 pm

I am currently employed (permanent) in a government facility for 5 years now. I'm currently stamp 4. Applying for Irish Citizenship based on residency.

I'm just curious, will these 2 welfare support claims adversely affect citizenship our application? I am aware that there should be 3 years free of social welfare claims. Are these 2 included in those? I got 2 children having these benefits, born in the last 3 years, I am the one receiving on behalf of them. 1 of my children is Irish and 1 is a non-EU.

The maternity is obviously on the part of my wife :D, we are applying at the same time. She had claimed for the time she gave birth to both of our children - in the last 3 years as well.

Also, in your experience, does having an Irish child (considering we bith pass all basic qualification and clean of any bad record) be a plus in applying for Irish citizenship?

any information will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Mr. I
