falling short for ilr by 90 days

hi
i am falling short for ILR by approx 90 days due to overstay ...my current Tier1(G) visa expires in oct.So can i apply for extension in march or so and then after completing the 90 days short fall can i apply for ILR.somewhere in oct or nov:) or i need to apply for ILR in 2013:)
