If you have a UK-residence-permit this might be possible, since the UK officer in charge can check the validity in their systems.
Additional advantage: To my knowledge the check should already happen on the French side, so you shouldn´t be denied boarding.
I guess it´s worth a shot - better than not going back home. What do you have to loose?
