work permit - change of employer

Post by g99 » Sun Mar 25, 2007 11:17 pm

Hi,

I'm currently on a work permit, and am considering trying to change my employer. I understand that if the job largely remains the same (in my case the job title and basic responsibilities will be the same), the new application is somewhat easier - e.g. you don't require to test the job market via interviews.

Are there any other differences? For example, is there less documentation burden this time around in terms of sending reference letters, copies of diplomas, etc? I'm hoping since I provided that all last time I would need to send through all the same materials again.

Thanks

That is correct, there is no need to test the job market. There is less paperwork just the new company sponsoring you and signing the WP1 form (I think). No need to send diploma, degree certificates or references.

One thing l would say when my husband did this they only asked for an organisational chart showing his position and how many people he was supervising.

Also looking to change jobs

Hi, If you find any websites that spell out how this process works, would you share please? I want to approach new employers with this information to show them that it would be a fairly simple process to hire me. Thanks!

Change of employer

Post by nitin_malik » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:23 pm

Hello,

I am currently on a work permit which is valid till 26th May 07. Currently I have been offered a job by another employer in another job role for which i along with other candidates were interviewed. The advertisment was placed on leading web sites also.

What would the process be for transferring the work permit and also applying for an extention to the work permit. Would i need to provide my documents and degrees again. Would the company need to apply for a fresh work permit.

Also what are the current time lines for the above process.

Any information would be helpful.

Many thanks.

Regards

Nitin
