getting a new passport -do i need to move visa stamp?

Post by jasper79 » Tue May 01, 2007 8:21 am

Is it essential to move my further leave to remain visa stamp to my new passport, or can I travel with both passports?

My wife and I are going abroad in June, but I am unlikely to receive my new passport until the end of May which will only leave me a couple of weeks in which to get my visa stamp moved to my new passport. I don't really fancy paying another £500 to go to Lunar House to get it moved, after forking out £500 to get the stamp less than a year ago.

Could I travel with the new passport and take the old one with me to show my flr stamp? or is it essential to get it moved into my new passport before I travel?

It's not a problem. My wife travels with both passports attached together using an elasticband (her old one contains FLR). She has travelled to the Netherlands, Canada and the USA and they haven't been bothered at all.

They just end up flicking more pages

Edit: I forgot to say - her name is not even the same in the new passport (due to being married to me), so I wouldn't worry, they understand these things happen.
