OLD FLR(M) waiting times Thread

Very quick timeline for my wifes FLR (M)...

Date Applied/Docs sent: 07/10/13
Date Received Ack. Letter: 09/10/13
Date Biometrics booking letter arrived: 15/10/13
Date Biometrics Appointment Croydon: 18/10/13

Date Biometric Card Received from HO: 1/11/13
Passport/Docs received from HO: 31/10/13
Visa Type : FLR(M) for spouse EXTENSION
Visa From: FLR (M)

Only 3 weeks from start to finish and thought it may take longer as may have been deemed 'complicated' as my wife has a conviction

Do u guys think I should mail them and ask about my application?
If yes, what is BHC's email id..
And I dont know how to count days according to BHC method..could somebdy help me n tell me how many weeks have actually passed?

Depends on what status you are?

For ex: if you are on PSW then it usually takes less than 3 - 12 weeks. Current waiting time for spouses of ILR is 54 working days.

Only out of your interest PSW is Post Study Visa and ILR is Indefinite leave to remain.

I think you are in the wrong thread, please continue posting your query in this thread.

However, yours is settlement visa so, on average they're taking around 55 working days for such kind.

Hi guys,

Just wanted you all to know that today I have received all documents back with a letter confirming that my biometric for partner visa has been approved and that it will be with me within the next 7 days. So chuffed about this! Here's the timeline:

Application sent: 07/10/2013
Biometrics letter received: 14/10/13 date on letter (not actually received at home till 19/10/2013!)
Biometrics given at post office: 19/10/2013
Biometrics card received: Should arrive within the next 7 days
Documents received: 11/11/2013 (though on letter it was sent and approved on 07/11/2013)
Type of visa: partner visa 30 months
Changed from: Tier 1 Entrepreneur

For all those still waiting, just hang in there and hope for the best. My dear partner and I have been quite stressed out over these last few months and I feel like a whole burden have been lifted off my shoulders. We will be celebrating! Good luck to everyone else and think positive!

Hi I had a minor panic attack last night after reading the forums where people were saying it would take up to 6, 8, 9 months and more before receiving their visa (by post). I was seriously regretting not taking the premium route. Worse is the Home Office does not clearly state how long it should take nor do they want you contacting them about the progress of your application - so you are left in the dark without a means to travel for an unknown amount of time. I was worried I would not be able to go home for Xmas which I had already booked. After a somewhat sleepless night (it had been over 4 weeks since I submitted), to our surprise we got a special delivery in the morning with our documents and approval! I think 2012 was a bit of a nightmare year for processing visas (which many of the forum posts were from).

One thing I was also worried about while applying was whether I could apply from within the country from tier 5 visa which clearly states you have to leave, but after speaking to a couple solicitors, it seems you can (as long as you've had leave to remain for 6 months or more).

I also decided not to pay the fee for a solicitor. They seemed over-priced and I felt I could do the paper work myself. The only thing they would add is a letter to support your relationship is genuine. It was a bit of a risk since I wasn't 100% certain on a number of issues. But it worked out fine.

Here is my timeline:

Application sent: 16/10/13
Biometrics letter received: 24/10/13
Biometrics given at post office: 26/10/13
Biometrics card received: waiting... (should come in up to 7 days)
Documents received: 16/11/2013
Type of visa: Unmarried partner 30 months (first application)
Changed from: Youth Mobility Visa (tier 5) Canadian

So overall as mentioned by another person, took about 1 month! Very happy and relieved.

Just wanted to share my experience as I often get into visa discussions with others and it's one hell of a headache dealing with all the bureaucracy and paying huge sums to get it. You really feel rendered to an insignificant number (or piece of biometric data) in a Kaftka-esque society where you have no control over your status or future. Glad it worked out this time..

I came in uk in November 2003 as student.My wife and two children join me in July 2007.04July 08 I got IGS and extend for a year PSW .05 February 2010 I got tier 1 general visa for thee years.January I got two year extension till 05 February 2015.My wife and children every time extended visa with me as dependent.But now I have applied for ILR on basis of 10 year long residency.My one son is now 18 year old.My question are after granting ILR to me.
1.what about my dependants.should I switch to dependant on flr m.
Am I need prove £18600 income
threshold for dependants.how long they should wait for ILR.
2 which form to use for my over 18 son if I need separate application.
3.he did gcse in English from here with B grade and doing a level.is he still need english esol.
4 should I apply for flr m before my ilr granting because my sone is going to university next sept.to avoid international student fees.
Please advise

I am in the same boat. Can anyone give us the full detail of documents required for FLR(m) application. Is Settle person has to send original passport and ILR card with spouse application or a photocopy should be enough? Thanks

I have been granted with ILR and I sent my wife's FLR M just one week after my SET (LR) application. I included a letter requesting to hold her application till mine is decided.
Should I now, simple send another letter with my wife case reference number by post or should I call UKBA.

Please let me know if there is any template that I can use.

looking for some advice here
i got ILR in June 2013 via Long Residency route.
my mrs came to join me in UK in May 2011 as PBS dependant and she applied to switch her visa to spouse visa by sending FLR(M) application form in Oct 2013.
As her first visa as PBS dependant was granted before July 2012 i sent 3 months payslip and bank statement for us. Now i received a HO letter asking the following information
- Tenancy agreement and latter from local authority/landlord confirming whi is residing at our address (i can provide this)
- my 6 months pay slips (i can provide this)
- Employers letter (Not sure what should be covered in the letter)
- my 6 months bank statement covering my pay slips (i can provide this)
- Most Recent council tax (i got only 1 letter recieved in May would that be ok or shall i contact Council to send me anew letter)
- Further documentary evidence from 02 March 2011 to 26 Nov 2013 for my spouse and my self or addressed jointly to both of us from 3 different source. (looks like its proof of cohabitation)
questions i wanted to ask was
1) why does home office need my pay slip and bank statement for 6 months as my Mrs got entry clearance in April 2011 so she doesn't come under income threshold of £18600
2) documentary evidence of cohabitation is not relevant to FLR(M) application i believe. Not sure why they asking for this information
3) we've been asked to provide documentry proof since Mar 2011 however my Mrs only came to UK in May 2011 how am i suppose to cover from March 2011?

looks like UKBA has lost it while processing our application but please advise what can be done

I not a guru, anyway the funds requirements of 18600 will apply on all Flr(m) cases. After 28 oct 2013 your spouse must have English level B1 with the application. Employer letter will assure your income and employment for six month period. You have to get stamp your six months payslips or your employer can mention in letter that payslips are genuine. Don't submit unnecessary documents with application.

i have couple of more question. as proof of cohabitation for me and my partner we need to provide 6 documents on our names jointly or 12 names separately addressed to us.
1) my question is if i got a NHS letter for my partner and HMRC letter for me, does this considered as 1 proof or does both the letters addressed to us separately should be from same source.
2) second question is, do i have to provide 6 documentary proof for me and my partner for all the addresses we have lived or we can provide a mixture spread over the period of time?

I need your advice please, I was granted ILR under 10 years rule in the month of june 2013 and my wife got FLR (M) in september. We r gone for holidays for more than two months in india. I came back before three months and but bcoz of health reason my wife couldnt come back in 90 days period but she got visa up to 2016. Now if she want to come after 90 days period to in UK. Is there going to be problem in immigration or she can stay for more, I mean two or three months more.

Please expertise advice me.

hi i got my ILR on 10 years long bases, when i was waiting for my ILR my depends visa was expired and i applied for flrm. now i got ILR and i am waiting for my wife and kids FLRMdo i need to send my ILR copy to Home Office, If yes then where to send.

For all those who are waiting for more than 6 months

I've some news on my partner's FLR(M). After waiting for more than 9.5 months, my partner has been approved her FLR(M).

Things I've done:

Once I received my ILR, I sent photocopies of my BRP and Approval letter to FLR(M) Dept in Sheffield.
Sent a complaint to local MP after waiting for 3 weeks from my ILR date.
My MP sent a response to wait for 4 weeks and I shall receive an update from UKBA. (Which did not happened)

Sent a reminder after 4 weeks as advised by my MP.
This time my MP asked me to wait for few more days.

After waiting for 3 more weeks I sent Parliamentary Ombudsman Form along with copies of Acknowledgement Letter, Bio-metric invitation letter and copies of letters to/from my MP to my Local MP to lodge a complaint against UKBA with Parliamentary Ombudsman.

After two weeks when I contacted the Parliamentary Ombudsman, I learnt that the complaint wasn't sent to them by my MP. I reported the same to my MP's office and then they lodged it with Parliamentary Ombudsman.

I got an acknowledgement letter from Parliamentary Ombudsman prompting that they are liaising with the UKBA and that they've given them (UKBA) 15 days to get back with an answer.

Within a week from this Acknowledgement letter my wife received her application outcome with flying colors. (Though not World Class Service as repeatedly claimed by the UKBA)


So my appeal to everyone waiting for more than the stipulated time to follow this process to speed up your application process.

I hope this info is of some use to some if not many.

Hi I have been a quite observer in this forum and reading everyones comments has given me hope and despair, my husband who is peruvian and I am british citizien have applied 3 times and it has taken about 1.5 years!!!
but at last i think we have hope, my husband received an email saying

11th december 2013: Dear Applicant. please be informed that your visa has been issued today and your documents will be returned in the next working day.

(and that was it no indication of what to do next!!)


Yet we have not received any documents back, has he got the visa or not?

Biometrics interview: 22nd October 2013
documents received in Rio de Janerio: 5th November 2013
Email saying your visa has been issued: 11th December 2013

but still no documents or passports back???

Hello everyone,

I have a silly problem here. Most of you probably will be laughing but what the hell, I will shoot. My husband filled in the EEA 2 application form in blue ink - can it be rejected?

Secondly, the media start to threaten EEA nationals living without residency card in the UK that soon without it we will be deported to our countries. I have given my passport to my husband so that he can apply for his EEA 2 and now I will have to withdraw mine and his also, because he wants to travel. How to do that? Should we write an e-mail or any official letter to UKBA and request them to be sent by post? We haven't included any self-addressed envelope with application.

Return of original documents: still waiting (expecting Royal Mail)
Visa granted: 30 months Spouse visa with work permitted

Didn't go all crazy with making indexes or explaining my marriage with timelines. Kept it simple and submitted all the required documents by carefully studying the instructions given in the application form and UKBA website.
