Dear Fellow Members( Oct 13 Applications):

I have recently written to the Chief Case worker, here is my application for an update:

I write further to my application for Naturalisation made on 24 Oct 2013.

It has been more than 6 months since I made the application and yet to receive a decision on it. I made a complaint on 14 Feb 2014 for the length of time it has taken to decide on my application but only received a generic reply from Nationality Directorate.

I have noted the contents of the letter and do not agree with the statement that there is no maximum time limit to decide on an application.

I have also made calls to the 0300 123 2253 without any fruitful information and was merely informed that my application is not completed yet.

I now wish to make a formal request for the following information regarding my application:

1) Date of checks made.
2) Date of checks reply by the relevant authority.
3) What action has been taken on these checks since completed?
4) If my application is straight forward, moderate or complicated.

In either case what is the ‘Specific Date’ by which it will be completed and a decision will be made?

I would be grateful for a positive response and in the interim, if you require my further assistance in the matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

I will take JR route if the reply in once again generic and time delay tactics are used.

This delay culture has to stop once and for all. Even if I have to involve media I will not hesitate to put an end to applicants misery.

I'll appreciate any valuable comments especially from seniors.

It is very random. By sheer luck, I got through that day, but yes, for the last few days the number always goes on to the automated message about high call volumes.

I applied on the 8th of February, and haven't received my letter yet. I called them up 2 weeks ago, but they said they said there is no update.

Eligibility criteria: 2 years HSMP, 3 years Tier 1 General, 1 year ILR
Language eligibility: through citizenship
Current nationality: American
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Wandsworth
Date of application: 27/02/2014
Payment method: CC
Date of receipt by UKBA: 28/02/2014
Date of acknowledgement: 03/03/2014
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 28/02/2014
Date approval received: Waiting
Date of ceremony:Waiting

Have been having some trouble getting any information on the status of my application. I wrote to FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk asking if my application had been assigned to a caseworker and if so, if they anticipated needing any further documents. (I travel a lot for work and was worried about the 3 week response time). I got the following (unhelpful) response.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately we can only confirm that currently the application is ongoing as it has not yet reached the 6 month stage of consideration. We will contact you as soon as a decision has been made or if we require further information.

All applications for citizenship are subject to enquiries to ensure that the statutory requirements have been satisfied. Because of these enquires, we anticipate that applications may take up to six months to complete. Some applications may be dealt with more quickly and some may take longer, depending on the nature of the enquiries to be carried out. Our service standards set out how quickly we aim to decide applications for British citizenship. The standard is that we will decide 95% of applications within six months.

I then tried the 0300 number but "because of high call volumes" they're not accepting any calls for citizenship applications?

Is anyone else having the same experience? Also, has anyone been rejected? I've had some awful experiences with the Home Office.

Congrats and well done.

You have to realise while some people are happy to welcome your application for citizenship, you have some that if it was left up them, you would never get that far ( camden ncs).

I had a mate who applied for passport at our local post office and had a rough time as the lady who was at the counter found falts with everything he presented, even picture quality and size. He took the docs from her and went to another post office 5 miles away and they accepted the application and 5 weeks after, he got his passport. So that goes to show you.

Hello everyone, I've got the good news 3 days ago.
I want to thank you every post in here, they were very important to me and everyday they gave me hope, and I want to wish the same for those still waiting.

I also want to report how bad my experience was at the Camden National Check, the lady was very rude, she didn't know much and needed to keep cheking with someone in the other room, I only had 3 P60 but over 20 other documents as support, including the letter of my company I work for over 6 years. She said that without P60 I wouldn't get approval and I should expect a phone call from the HM, I decided not to apply with them, I lost my 50 pounds, and I sent by mail. During the 7 weeks I waited I couldnt sleep well, thinking in the words she mentioned about the chances of not getting the approval. Anyway I received my approval and now I have to celebrate.

Eligibility criteria: 5yrs+1yr ILR
Language criteria met: Trinity College Test
Method of application: Post
Date of application: 25-02-14
Payment method: MC Credit Card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 27-02-14
Date of acknowledgement: 04-03-14 (dated 27-02-14)
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 27-02-14
Date approval received: 22-04-14
Date of ceremony: I called Camden Council, the lady on the phone was also rude and said they havent heard from the home office.

Just to update I got the acknowledgement letter today 28/04 the letter is dated 23/04/14. In it they state "As the full fee must be paid before consideration of your application(s) can continue, you should send £32.00. Please send this with the enclosed payment slip to reach us within 14 days of the date at the top of this letter. Failure to do so will result in your application being refused."

I sent the payment slip today (same day) authorising debiting my card for the above extra. When I checked the fee guide and it turns out they increased the amount from £874 to £906 which is the current fee beginning from 06/04. I sent my application 09/04 and the fee guide I printed around the beginning of April stated £874.

So be aware the fee is increased to £906.

Going by my timeline and my friends, it look like the UKBA is turning these around in about +-6 weeks. Not bad actually.

Good luck to all still waiting.

Seems like some long delays for applications made from 2nd week of April. Average lead time for debit clearance is 7-10 days, however longer nowadays.

That depends on your circumstances. Read the form AN and you'll see what you need. I needed proof of employment, and provided all the P-60ies and a letter from the current employer. Yet to see if this is enough. Your mileage may vary.

It is small cause thats what they request of you. Again if u go through the form and the checklist on it, it tells u exactly what u need to submit. Yes its that easy. Submit what they ask u for and not what u think they will need.

You must submit originals of everything. However, if you submit through NCS (or a leech... sorry, solicitor), they will copy everything and return the originals to you.
