Well done! It seems that applications paid with a postal order are processed faster. That's the second application I've seen "jump the queue", and the common trait between the two is payment with a postal order. Perhaps UKBA assigns them to a case worker straight away as the applicant has already spend the money, whereas they probably wait when it's a card payment as no point taking the money to far in advance if there's a queue of applications.

dabbler80, if you are applying yourself, then you must send your original documents (passports), I am pretty sure they will request from you your passport to send through to them soon. The only way to keep your passport is to apply via NCS where they check your documents, copy them an send your application to HO.[/quote]

I agree! If you are applying yourselves by post then Originals must be sent. That is why NCS is there who check your originals and send photocopies to HO. These copies will be treated as good as Originals by Home office as NCS has already checked your passport for them! Having your fee debited does not mean they have checked your documents IMHO.

Mine application is from 28th Nov and fees were deducted only in 2nd week of Jan 2014, and has gone quiet since then. I wonder when there will be any more movement. I had high hopes that when October backlog is cleared, they will catch up with Nov/Dec fairly quickly!

I am in a similar situation as you are, applied on 25th Nov, and money taken on 15th Jan. But no brown envelop received yet.

I think we should continue to be patient and wait. I would start worrying if everyone would have got their approvals except me! (well I hope not! )

Dear all,

I am applying for naturalisation next month, but there is technical problem I want to resolve:

Me and my wife both are on ILR. The question is that if we apply as joint applicant what would be the status of my wife?

1: she will be consider as a spouse of British citizen and her qualifying period will be on 3 years based?

OR

2: she will be consider on her merits and the residential qualifying period will on 5 years based?

please if any one can guide me because its going to make a lot of difference.

I got my ILR on 10 years and my wife is with me for 8 years.
