anyone waiting for nearly 5 months I suggest to contact your MP to act on your behalf. I sent an email to my local MP a week before 5 months completed (of my app) a week later I receive a letter from him including a copy of the letter he sent to HO, stated that he sent a letter to HO on my behalf.
a week after his letter to HO (20 Sep) I received a letter from HO requeting my old passport for check. 30th sep I received an email that a decision have been made and I will have the letter shortly. Today I received my approval and my other documents. I belive the MP's letter to HO was a strong and official reminder to them that they acted after 5 months.
Thanks God!

Good luck everyone and thanks for sharing your experiences Smile
I was used to visit this forum a couple of times a day for the last 6 months and know many users by name, and felt happy for those whom were updating they received and pray for those still waiting.

You can apply through NCS which is the Nationality Checking Service offered by local councils. They normally charge a fee which is different for different councils but they will take a photocopy of your passports etc and you can keep the original with you. Home Office has a right to ask for your originals if they wish.

I received HO response via my MP today that our case was assigned to a case working unit on 25 June and that decision still hasn't been made (3 months after that!!). So try not to worry too much - as you can see, it doesn't mean much even if it has been assigned. Our application was received on 14 June, and I'd say it's quite straight forward as well. But who knows what HO's definition of straight forward is

Hard as it can be, all I can advise is to KEEP CALM, YOUR APPROVAL IS COMING SOON. Above all I thank God for everything. All the best guys. my final edit will be to update ceremony date. My nationality is Zimbabwean if anyone finds it relevant.

(Was told it would be straightforward due to being here 14 years, it has not been the case) I received an email today stating that no decision has been made yet on my application. Do not even know whether it is with a case worker
update, received another email very promptly saying that my case has not gone to a case worker yet
