Hi

I emailed ukba for an update on my application and was told that an invitation letter was sent out on the 19th of July. Since i did not receive the letter i sent them another email on 3rd Aug and was told that another letter will be sent. A couple of days ago i again checked with them for an update and was told that due technical error they have yet to print out the letter and would do so a soon as possible... Is anyone else facing the same problem?

Delays @ Home office

Post by 1273 » Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:35 am

Sent applications 3 weeks ago via NCS. Money taken. No acknowledgement letter. Nothing so far.

Spoke to NCS today. I was informed they haven't received anything from Home office for over 2 weeks now.

Wonder what might be the problem?

Re: My timelines

Post by skyiswide » Sat Aug 10, 2013 11:00 am

Hi can anyone advice me due to delay from home office ....as they are not currently issuing any invitation letter but if they make approved applicant wait more than couple of weeks one who is waiting for invitation letter more than 2 to 5 weeks so will Homr office give extra time to those people take oath. As in general it is 3 months but in my case council do citizenship ceremony after every 1 and half months later. As home office didnt say anything about delay yet so in a later stage they might not agree with delays. Is on the letter on invitation it will be the same date as my later of approval. If home office take some more week to send me invitation letter and council take 1 and half or 2 months to give me a date to take oath then it will cross 3 months time line. So I am bit worried now. Please help me with this question. I know there will be option of private ceremony but I already paid ceremony fee as part of my application (80 pounds include). So what will be the date on invitation letter. Thank you.

Why?
linuxman2k3 wrote:The caseworker will probably not reject your application on the basis of a caution (they have bigger fish to fry). Good luck with your application.
Probably not. However, something beyond anecdotal evidence would be nice.

Convictions and cautions are whole different ballparks outside of the UKBA since December 2012. Simply touching a mobile phone while driving is enough to get someone cautioned and thereby likely refused citizenship for 3 years.

Hi I feel your pain coz exactly same thing happened to me as well. Now when they receive your payment, it may take upto 7-10 days before they will take any money. I thought should give you heads up.
Good luck
btw I'm still waiting for my approval.

I understand your frustration. Sorry you had to go through it.
But also consider this and will be helpful to others in future.

1. Always check with your bank/credit card company what is the maximum payment they can allow out without scrutinising. This is linked to your credit score on their system. E.g. They allow person A to spend £3000 no problem but might not allow person B to spend £800.

2. Make sure you tell them that this payment will be going out from your account, but at the same time tell them to lift the fraud check from the account. This can only be lifted for 2 days from the day you ask them to lift it.

3. Give them the apt reason to do it and just be calm/polite to make sure they do it. I know it is our account and money but we have give them the powers to protect it from Fraud and keep it Safe for when we want it.

4. The key is to speak to a customer service representative who knows the ways around the system. You will get people telling you - no it can't be done, it's company policy and I don't have enough access. All the rubbish under the Sun. Stick to your guns and you will get there.

I had to do this twice and the second time I came across someone who was pretty smart and helped me out.

Hope this helps to someone in future.

I've applied with 5 days of ILR with the overall residence of approx 7 years, 1 of them as a spouse of a BC. It only took 2 weeks to get the approval.

I've applied with 2.5 months of ILR (and with the overall residence of approx 5.5 years, 2.5 of them as a spouse of a BC).
