What actually happened is this
I was granted ILR on 26 Feb 2013 and i do know that am suppose to wait for a year before applying for naturalization, but i just didn't bother and i decided to just try and see the outcome.

Am not surprised about the refusal.

I shall apply after 1 year of my ILR. I hope this will help others

Hi Anuonyammre, unfortunately despite paying a fortune all correspondence is sent via 2nd class post, I received my approval letter yesterday but it was dated back in March. The acknowledgement letter doesn't really tell you anything, so long as the money has been taken that is the main thing. Good luck!

I applied for Naturalisation through the NCS on 18th of March 2013. The fee of £851 was debited from my account on the 26th of March ( confirmed through phone banking). I have not yet received an Acknowledgement Letter after several days of the fee being taken. Is this a normal?

I received the news that the application has been refused. The grounds on refusal are: to be in the UK on the day, exactly 5 years prior from the date of application. This is quite confusing.

On the 4th and 5th of March 2008, I was in the UK. we sent the application by special delivery out on 4th march 2013. it was received on 5th of March 2013. however the UKBA counts +1 day for its internal purposes. hence they count the day 06 th March 2013 less five years making it 06 March 2008.

Now I flew out of the UK on 05th march 2008, and although it still counts to be in the UK, however, not on the 06 march 2008. On these grounds, they have refused the application.

I am free to apply on the first available eligible date.
no return of fees though.

this is my last post until my next application advised by my solicitors (to be advised later).

As far as I'm aware, you have to book the ceremony date yourself once the approval letter has been received.
