I am stuck in a long journey from London heading up north and you just made my day by proving my analysis wrong. From all timelines I saw recently, I was getting the impression that once you've gone past four months, your application has fallen through the net and will need digging out by an MP or otherwise!!

Sam, I got it finally after nearly 6 months. sorry couldn't update on here as I was tied up with work and stuff. Its been a journey and I now feel breath of fresh air as Frustration and Nerve Recking WAIT is over!!

You guys have applied on 28th or 29th Jan and got approval on 15th feb i.e. just over 2 weeks. That's really amazing - UKBA is doing a great job. Is this the time, they are taking on average or yours are done in exceptionally less time?

HI INCYWINCY, You can apply for Naturalization any time after 17 February 2013. You need to reside in the UK only for 3 years if you married to BC and dont have to wait 1 year after ILR.

hi,
i am preparing for my naturalization application form and i have some concerns. i came to uk on 17 feb 2010 on spouse visa. got my ilr on 09 july 2012. what i could understand from ukba web site is, i can apply for naturalization application any time after 17 feb 2013 with out waiting for full one year after granted ilr in july 2012 (because i am spouse to british citizen.)please correct me if i am wrong.or do i have to wait till 09 july 2013 when i shall complete one year of ilr?
i have refrees to sign my application one is sub post master( is it a professional standing?) and other is director of a limited company. i shall be greatful if some one help me here.

As far as i know you need to wait for another 12 months from the date of ILR. It says clearly on UKBA and also when you will ring local council to book for an NCS appointment their first question would be the same regarding duration for ILR.

If you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you will need to be free from immigration time restrictions on the date you make your application.
If you are not married to or the civil partner of a British citizen you should have been free of immigration time restrictions during the last 12 months of the 5 year qualifying period. Usually there is a stamp or sticker in your passport saying that you have indefinite leave to enter or remain or no time limit on your stay. But you may have a letter from the Home Office saying that you are free from immigration conditions. If you do not have a passport or letter which says this and you have lived here many years you may still be free from an immigration time restriction.)

you will have to pay £100 for a private ceremony if you need to bring it forward. That's what i will have to pay on my ceremony day.

I will be leaving the country soon and looks like I will be doing so without citizenship in hand

the only caveat is that you need to contact local authority for arranging the ceremony within 21 days of issuing the approval letter

I am in the same boat as emmigrator123, same application 10 year + 1 Year ILR. Though I applied through solicitor on 10 Dec 2012, passport returned on 20 Dec 2012. I too will be leaving the country at the end of the month for my new job but sadness as I would need to pay for a ticket to come back for a day to just take the oath. Ask for a Private Ceremony. However, it will cost you some money.
