Date of return of documents: 11th September 2017
Date of receipt of interview letter: Only for my 18 year old son 8th September 2017
Date of Passport Appointment:14th September 2017 (for our son only)
Date of Passport Receipt: 11th September 2017 (for us the Parents)
Note our son went for the passport interview today. He casually asked as to why only he was sent
letter for interview while we the parents our passports without an interview . The lady informed him that anyone who applied for passport at 18 has to have an interview. Hope this bit of information is helpful to other members!
On the whole the HMPO very efficient - 10 days including two weekends![]()

He arrived 10 minutes early and was seen immediately. Escorted by a lady to the interview officer who asked him the following questions:
Full name plus asked him to spell the full name
Address
How long it took him to get there and how he got there
Parents names and DOBs
Parents professions and what they were doing now
His Education and work history ( O levels and A levels)
Counter signatory name and profession
How he applied check and send
Local post office details.
In the end he was asked to sample his signature on a paper.
The whole process took less than 10 minutes.
