British Passport application processing timelines (only)

why BRP? did they actually asked for it, when you were filling online?

Passport application form asks for 2 things: -

a) Identity of Child (i.e. Birth Cert)
b) proof of eligibility to British citizenship. At time of his birth, I was not BC, I was on ILR for which the proof is BRP.

If your parents are born after 1982 only then you need your grandparents details. Please refer to the guidance booklet to avoid any disappointments. Everything is clearly mentioned on there including the documents required for naturalised citizens.

I don't think you need to fiil in any grandparent details. Please confirm by calling passport office.

All you need is the current passport and that's what I did for two adult applications. And for kids I'm applied online yesterday, that's so much easy

All you need is the following, and online is so easy, try that option. I just did for my kids and only one form to fill that is the reference

Two Photographs ( Refer has to input his details on the back of one photograph
****Applicant Signature should be within the specified box and it shouldn't touch the boundaries of the box *****

Date of Passport Appointment:12/11/2015 ( called on 11/11/2015 and was able to book interview and got booking reference number by phone and email as well.)
Date of Passport Receipt: Expecting on 16/11/2015 ( Called today afternoon i.e 14/11/2015 and got tracking number for DX courier. It is saying delivery on 16/11/2015.
I want to share my experience first I called directly appointment line on Monday ie 09/11/2015 and was told to wait till I receive interview letter. I called advice line to know my application status then they said that my application was not assigned to an examiner. I called again on Wednesday ie 11/11/2015. This time I was told I can book appointment for interview. I got for next day 12/11/2015.

So all I want to say that it is better to give 3 or 4 working days sending the application to book an interview. When we book the interview they give one reference number which we need to mention at the reception. So no need to wait till we get interview letter.

I take this opportunity to thank whole heartedly all fellow members and especially moderators who are sharing and providing their valuable suggestions and time to many people like me and making our life easier.

1. Current passport and any other passports you still possess even expired ones.

2. Original Naturalisation Certificate.

There is a "General Adivce" provided by some members that we can call them to book the interview as soon as they have received the application. i think this is not appropriate and we should allow atleast 2 to 3 working days for application to be logged on the system and then processed to next stage which is "Document validation" and then issuance of interview letter. i followed the above advice and called them on 9th and they confirmed that the application is received and logged but awaiting document checks (Passport, Naturalisation Certificate). I have called again on 12th and they confirmed that the intervew letter was issued on 10th and documets were also sent the same day and i was able to book my interview.
Althouth the Passport process is alot quicker and smooth and staff are very helpful when we call them as compare to the Home Office but if we start irritating them by calling next day of application they might make things difficult for future applicants.
So based on my own experience and looking at some of the timelines I would suggest to change the "General Advice" to call them (If you really have to) at least 3 working days after the application is received by the HMP Office.
