Passport received

Passport for: Adult
Application Type: New
Method of application: Check & Send
Date of application: 17/09/2015
Date application received by IPS: 18/09/2015
Location of IPS Office involved: Peterborough
Date of return of documents: 28/09/2015 (dated same day, delivered through mailslot by DX Secure)
Date of receipt of interview letter: 24/09/2015 (dated 22/09/2015, delivered Royal Mail 1st Class)
Date of Passport Appointment: 01/10/2015 (Globe House London)
Date SMS received: 02/10/2015
Date of Passport Receipt: 05/10/2015 (delivered through mailslot)

Thus the saga ends for me. Seven years, six months and twenty days ago I sent in my application for a work permit under the now-defunct Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. Yesterday I obtained a UK passport.

Here's to a world of visa free travel.

Congratulations flon.

I received a sms today " Your new passport should arrive within a few working days. Keep it safe. Report any loss at http://www.gov.uk. Your supporting documents will be returned separately"

I have seen people getting sms about passport being printed. Not sure my passport is already printed or it is already on the way. Im planning to call Passport helpline tomorrow.

May I know what sms did you receive? Just curious.

I thank you for your time n response in advance!

Hi Guys,

how did you guys come to know when your application is received and where ? do they send mail / text or is there any online tracker. been almost week but have no clue. :?

Thanks
should be on the tracking slip (the one post office gave you when you submitted), also the office you send it to should be on the envelope you got the passport application in (if you remember it) if you really want to know go to the post office and ask them for another one the check.

Finally after two months of chasing received a call for interview and on line status is showing printing now. These two months were a nightmare since l was desperate to travel and passport office was ready to give no information and was not even ready to return my pakistani passports. I don't know what went wrong with my application which caused this much of delay where rest of every body was getting it in one to two weeks. Hope to get it in couple of days now. Best of luck to every body.
Dear Choudry,

Congratulations!

That is an aweful wait time. Glad its over for you.

I used check & send n had my interview on 02/10/2015.

Could you please tell me how did you check your online status?

I tried but the online status can be checked only for the people who applied online?

Looking forward to hear from you

Appreciate your time.

Thanks!
You can check it online and it will tell you the date it was received by home office. Then you will get an email from passport office about the status of your passport, like I got telling me that it's gone for printing and should get it in three to four days. Best of luck

When I used the "online" form to obtain status about my application, it apparently was picked up by someone from customer services, who sent me an email for further details, and once I provided the details, sent me another email telling me when and where the application was received and processed, and when the interview letter had been sent.

The website says to wait at least three weeks before asking, but I asked about the application just a week in and got a comprehensive answer.

Grandparents details are not applicable to naturalised citizen. If you go at end of guidance booklet and check the tables you will find the red cross in section of grandparents details for naturalised citizen.
Yes coming to the point of parents details so as I am naturalised citizen and my both parents were born abroad so I gave their DOB's and places of births but as I didnt have any record of their date of marriage so I left that blank. So that wasnt an issue . In interview they will ask you about your parents details as its just needed for id checking thats it.
I don't think that's what the table says. It indicates that you only have to provide supporting documents regarding your grandparents if you are claiming a British passport in lieu of a British Overseas Territories passport, or through lineage (for people born as UK citizens 1983 onward). My understanding is that even naturalized citizens are expected to provide what details they can about their grandparents (and I believe one recent applicant mentioned in this thread that they had to reapply because they left off parents' details, and on clarifying with the helpline was told to provide both parents' and grandparents' details, even though citizenship was being claimed via naturalization). But apparently enforcement of this by the caseworker seems to vary.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... s_4_14.pdf (pages 12-13)

In my case, neither I nor my parents knew about my grandparents' dates of marriage, nor about the date of birth of one of my grandfathers, so I simply put down "Not Known" for these details. (I had the remaining details so I provided them in an annexure.)
