Salaam, Tulip.
Congrats and Mubarak for the approval.
I'd recommend 'Apply Online' option. It's much easier plus you can track the progress of your application as well. Fill out the required fields and at the end of the online form, there's an option 'print your conter-signatory declaration'. Get it printed and once signed by a counter-signatory, send it(along with the required documents & photos) to HM Passport Office. It's the easiest, hassle-free, and cost-effective option.

Can a sole director of a limited company be countersignatory? According to guidelines, a director of limited company can sign so wanted to double check with senior members?

Thanks.

Does the applicant have to visit post office in person to apply for first passport via check and send service or anyone can submit application on their behalf?

To get the check and send forms, do we have to collect it from post office or we can download and print? are these forms free?

Thanks.

Use check & send. It about £9 I believe and someone checks your form and photo to make sure it fits the requirement, hopefully saving you some hassle.

there is inquiries about the grandparents if you fill your application online, but you do not need to give them any date if you are not sure, for me I just confirmed their names and their material status only, and it was accepted.

My understanding is the passport is printed before the interview. After the interview/identity check is over, they send it off the next (or sometimes the same) working day.

I actually booked my appointment the day I got the letter. Unforunately the earliest appointment I could get at the Durham passport office (which is the closest to where I live) was 8 days later. It's pretty simple to book it, you just call the number provided in the letter and they'll run through the available timeslots for you so you can choose the best option for you.
Thanks a lot for your early reply but are you allowed to book earlier slot in any passport office if you are ready to travel to save some time.? Thanks
I'm sure you'll be able to if you're willing to travel, They mentioned available timeslots when I booked mine and asked if the Durham office was okay for me to go to since it was the closest to me, I'm sure if you mention that you don't mind travelling then they'd offer you any passport office.

Update;

Passport for: 1 X Adult
Application Type: New (Naturalised Citizen)
Method of application: Check and Send
Date of application: 20 July 2015
Date of receipt of application at HMPO: Don't know
Date of receipt of interview letter: 06/08
Date of Passport Appointment: 06/08
Date of return of documents: 06/08
Date Passport printed: waiting
Date of Passport Receipt: waiting

On 25/07 Received letter dated 22/07 from HMPO that pictures does not meet the requirements as the background is too dark but i used same background for naturalization application and was no problem. So i sent them new current pictures on 27/07 and received by them on 30/07.

I called them on 05/08 to find out if they have accepted my new photos, they said it is and my application on interview stage already and i can book an appointment for the interview if i want to even i have not received the interview letter. So i booked the inter view for next day. Lady at interview was very nice and polite, they only interview you make sure that you are the right person and this is not identity theft and also make sure that your name spells right and date of birth etc etc. Anyway when i came back home and i checked my post and found interview letter and also my documents returned separate.

On Friday 07/08 in the morning i received text message saying: "YOUR NEW PASSPORT SHOULD ARRIVE WITHIN A FEW WORKING DAYS. KEEP IT SAFE. REPORT ANY LOSS AT http://WWW.GOV.UK. YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WILL BE RETURNED SEPARATELY".
I don't know if this text message means is that my passport is printed ??? or this is a formal text message after the interview ???

If you read that information booklet whats with the form it clearly says you need to give the applicant's parents details. NOT the grandparents! Please read it before you are filling it out!

No, I did not receive any text message, I called them and they told me that they have received it on 3rd August.
I got the passport forms from post office, filled them and got signed by counter signatory and send it through post office check and send service.
You don,t have to give date of births of grand parents, it is the same form for every body and is not required to be filled for naturalised people. ( please verify through some other source, since I don't have a reference to quote, but the post office guy did told me to write not known in coulm 8.
Best of luck.

Hi Choudhry1

Did you requested passport application forms to be posted to your address via website? Once delivered you completed the form along with countersignature and then posted to IPS?

Thanks.

Mantha
Your application is for nationality or for the issuance of passport. If it is nationality then 6 months is correct but not for passport. The time is 6 weeks and and they do deal with you even on the next day to let you know if your application is received or not.

I'm currently still waiting on my passport as the courier has delivered it to the wrong address even though they were given the right address to deliver it to so I don't even know where it is. I've been told it's being investigated but it's left me so uneasy considering I go on holiday in 5 weeks.
