I've been waiting for my Passport for over 4 months now,
I get the same responses like
1) No 2 applications are the same.
2) Your application is still undergoing standard checks.
3) An application can take as long as it needs to.

No more info is given to me despite requests to speak to managers and examiners.
Everyone knows the standard is 6 weeks, something is wrong.
I've been calling every week for the past 2 months now, and it's a little frustrating.
Am I the only one that has had to wait this long...? Any similar cases?

Did you change any of your names or something?
I changed my name and in my certificate I'm with my new name but PO said they can't issue a British passport on a different name because my original EU passport is on my old name.
But at least I speak to them and know what is going on.
Now I'm giving up my othe Citizenship and then they can give me a passport with the new name.

I meant, I'm going to give up my old citizenship and keep the British one only.

I am having the EXACT same issue! They requested some documents and it took me 2 months to obtain and send to them, along with ALL my old passports.

They keep telling me it is going through standard checks. My brother recently renewed from London in 4 hours!

Dear All,

I would like to know what are the required supporting documents if applying for British passport from abroad?

I understand that I need to submit the following documents:
1- Declaration page
2- Colour photocopy of uncancelled non-British passports
3- Certificate of registration/naturalisation
4- 2 recent passport photos

Do I need to submit anything else?

I have noticed that there is a column of Identity Documents in the supporting documents file which are required to be submitted with application. Reading the identity documents )Table A, it states
If you are applying for a First British Passport you must provide a minimum of 3 documents from the list below as evidence of name and address and/or residency including:
• at least one document with photo identity; and
• two documents which show both your name and address and/or proof of residency.

I applied for my first passport (Naturalised) from Overseas. I sent it by normal post From Germany on 15 June 15. I receieved my passport today 07 July 15. Hoever i was only given a passport valid for 12 months.

Has anyone had any experience of applying from Overseas and with the same situation as mine ie (1 year Passoprt)?

Any advice is duly appreciated.

When you applied for naturalisation did you put the UK when it asks where you intend to live once naturalised? cos if you did, and dont live in the UK, technically they can revoke the citizenship (although it is rare.)

No. They cant revoke citizenship on that basis that you chose to live abroad. Though ILR gets revoked if you spent more than 2 years abroad in one go.

Please explain further. What you're saying is that a British citizen from birth can live and work anywhere in the world but a naturalised citizen don't have that right. That don't make sense?

Yes i did put UK down. However work commitments doesnt allow me to me in the UK all the time. But that doesnt warrant me receiving a years passport instead of 10 years?
