Emailed the MMST FMT on 22/10/19 asking for an update, got reply same day with this "Our preparatory enquiries on this application are currently ongoing. This means that the application cannot yet be allocated. Hopefully it will not take too much longer before the application to considered. You do not need to contact us as once the application is decided, you will be contacted by a caseworker"

Called them on 08/11/19, no reply.

Emailed again on 18/11/19, got reply on 22/11/19 with "You will be contacted by post within 21 working days"

I overstayed, but am glad this very stressful immigration journey to citizenship is now over, I am thankful to God almighty, praise Jesus for his mercies and miracles.

I reckon it would have been faster as i received a letter from caseworker on the 14th of November dated 9th of November, asking me to submit proof that I have paid some money owed to HMRC in 2014. I sent the proof immediately as I did not owe HMRC any money. Got the approval less than 2 weeks after sending the proof.

This platform has been amazing. Just reading peoples stories and experiences gave me hope and also helped me with ideas that helped me with my applications from ILR to Naturalisation.

This whole immigration process has been a journey but i am happy to be finally rid of the Home office in my life.

A couple notes to assist in the timeline - the 'issue' in my application was that I did not realise that I MUST be present in the UK 5 years ago to the day of the date of my application. It just so happened that I was on a business trip on the 29th May 2014 and out of the country that day. As such, the caseworker allowed me to reapply using the time frame of 21st October 2014 - 21st October 2019.

I reached back out to the caseworker on the 7th November to enquire if anything else was needed and she was kind enough to provide an update to our application and informed me that it would be approved within the next couple of days. We then received our letters (my spouse, 4 yr old son and I) on the 23rd November

The caseworker was incredibly sweet and we were very fortunate that she provided updates as I can absolutely sympathise with those whom continue to wait for a decision.

I just want to end by saying how incredibly helpful this forum has been over my 8.5 year journey. It has truly been useful in understanding how the visa and citizenship process actually works and the moderators do an amazing job keeping it clean and moving forward!

To those who are still awaiting a decision, I know this doesn't add much value but at the end of the day you just have to be patient. No news is NOT bad news - the process moves at its own pace and we cannot control it. Just know that as long as you meet the criteria you will be approved even if you did what I did!
