British Passport application processing timelines (only)

Hi all,

Just when you think the journey is over....

So basically me and my wife were both naturalised and applied for our passports on 7th Feb via Check and Send

My wife decided to add my surname to her name now. For example our names (on passports and our naturalization certificates) are STEVE SMITH and her name is JANE ROGERS. When we applied for our passport she wanted to be JANE ROGERS SMITH.

I had called Passport Office helpline in December (I have the date and time) and after having gone the whole case clearly with the agent he decided to consult a manager as this was a new one for him. Having spoken to a manager he came back and confirmed that we COULD just apply and that it would NOT be a problem. Just to clarify he did understand everything clearly as I asked him questions to check and he confirmed everything I had told him. I asked him if we needed Deed Poll and he said NO.

Now today I have had a letter from Passport Office for my wife stating that he name is different on naturalisation certificate as opposed to how it is on the form (she has added my surname on form) and that they are unable to issue the passport unless the naturalisation certificate is changed to that name first!!!

As you can imagine, this is now annoying and I am turning back to this forum (which has been my reliable partner in this journey) for advice. What can/should I do now? Seniors/Mods?

On another note, we got an acknowledgement SMS for her application but almost 10 days later still nothing for me. Called the helpline and lady said it was under process and I had been sent an interview letter already (did not get it yet).

I received a letter from the passport office telling me my passport photo did not meet the requirements so I sent another set...this was not countersigned. A week later I received the interview letter.

Tips:
1. secureDX re delivery is a real hassle - they can re deliver for free on a weekday for free but it's anytime between 9-5 and it's hard If you are working full time and in and out of meetings (which is why I can't have it sent to work as I may not be available to sign it) ; if you choose a half day slot or a Saturday it will cost you £6.13. Although not stated on the delivery slip, you can call them to arrange pickup from depot which will not cost extra (find their landline number through 'SayNoTo0845' - you'll be able to speak to a real human!). The London deport is in Chancery Lane which was convenient for me. If they give you grief about pickup, just say you are travelling in the next 48hours And need your passport urgently, which is the trick I used and they were fine with it :p)

2. My application is longer than usual as I wanted to drop one of my forenames. Whilst I was aware you can get free deed polls online to do this, I didn't want to risk it so used UKDPS to do it- I can confirm this company is legit although they charge £36. Please note: when you date your deed poll please date if AFTER you naturalisation ceremony if your naturalisation certificate is in your old name. The passport office had to call me to tell me to send a new one so I had to spend more to get a new deed poll issued. Also, I tried Legal Deed Poll service, another online company, and can confirm they are crooks- although they charged £10 only, my deed poll never arrived and it was impossible to contact these cowboys - PLEASE AVOID THEM!!!

Bringing/ breeding a foreign tribe in this country is something that is bound to be frowned upon. The only one who is embarassing himself is the guy who can't even spell the word "yourself". Well, I got my citizenship (and passport) for myself. I didn't bring a tribe over here, nor did I breed one (5 people!). While this forum is for immigrants, most of them are INDIVIDUAL immigrants, NOT TRIBES like yours! No wonder why British people have turned against -massive- immigration.

Thanks Serina26 for your comments. You need not breed or bring in a tribe, but I can tell you that you are a real disappointment. You should learn to respect other people's opinions and or situations, and because you have sex-related problems, should not be a reason to get upset with others without similar medical problems as yours.
