There is indeed a reference number in the letter and this number is asked when booking an appointment for the interview.
It doesn't say on the letter that it should be carried for the interview. However it does say "You need to give this number at your interview and whenever you contact us"

thanks a lot for the help Shiv, just one more question - there is a reference number on our naturalisation certificate. Maybe the passport reference number is the same and nothing specific to passport interview itself? Not sure if you could check that for me but it would be great help if you can

hi Shiv

I am waiting after applying for my passport as well, had a quick question for you - when you get the invitiation letter do you have some code/reference number in there that you need when calling to setup the interview? or do you need to take the interview letter with you for the passport appointment?

I have noticed a pattern that the interview letter is dispatched the same day we receive the SMS, and then it takes another 4 days to arrive.

I have an urgent requirement to go to Denmark and I'm thinking I can cut the 4 day transit of the letter time by calling and setting up interview with them right after SMS.

It wont work if the letter is required when we go to the interview though, or if there is a reference number on the letter we need while applying for the interview...

Please let me know asap for you, thanks a lot for your help in advance

I have a question for all the knowledgeable folks on here, most of the times the interview letter take around 4 days to come. Is it possible to call the Passport Offices before you receive the letter using an estimate (I'm sure they would have info on my details if the letter has been dispatched to me and should be able to make an appointment , it doesn't matter the transit time of the actual physical letter I would think)

Or does one have to mention any code/ref number that you receive in the letter before you can call at the passport office? I have an urgent requirement to go to Denmark within few days and I'm trying to cut down on the need for a schengen visa and shorten this passport delivery by a few days if possible...

any information would be helpful, thanks a lot
