I found that you can call up DX, give them some basic details and get the tracking number for the passport. This is very useful for those who want to plan to be at home to collect the passport. In my case, it was delivered with the porter at the development.

I was incredibly impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the service from the Passport Office. Not so impressed with the courier service (DX): they apparently tried to deliver my supporting documents on Monday, 10 November and even though I was at home all day, they somehow missed me. Instead of simply leaving a "we missed you" note to rearrange delivery, they wrote a letter sent through second class mail to advise me of the failed delivery which took five days to arrive. No way of speaking to a real person, the phone number they provide is an automated service to arrange re-delivery. I paid extra to secure an afternoon delivery for tomorrow and here is hoping that they do in fact deliver tomorrow.

All in all, however, I think the passport application process was fantastic - 11 days from submitting the application to having my beautiful new British Passport.

Thanks to all on the forum for keeping everybody in the loop - incredibly useful to set expectations correctly. Good luck to those still waiting.
