Interesting reading above that people are being told that first adult passport applications cannot be made from overseas. As mentioned, the online information seems to suggest it is ok. Does anyone have more information on this - e.g. is this correct? Does it only apply to certain countries? I would have thought an interview could be conducted at the British Embassy. It seems crazy that British citizens are not able to obtain passports.

Yes Mike...it is very confusing as the guidance online is the opposite of what they told me on the phone. I am planning to contact the Singapore embassy and ask them directly.

If anyone else had successfully applied for their first passport at an overseas location, please share your experience.

A Big thanks to this forum as my journey has come to an end. Its been 7 years since I came to UK and went through various stages from WP+tier1+ILR+Naturalization+BC.

How did you apply for naturalisation? via NCS OR POST? I take you have your current ILR with you, You can travel to singapore on ur indian passport (not sure if you need visa for singapore).
Unfortunately you cannot apply for irst adult passport from abroad. It requires HMPO interview at one of the interview centres.
I am only advising on my experience and knowledge.
If i were you, i would wait for approval letter and attend naturalisation ceremony and then travel.

Hi,

Finished the appointment today. Overall, it was very friendly and went quite good.

But, at the end the examiner mentioned that there are some internal checks to be done and you will hear us within 10 days. I asked him whether this is common for everyone and he said yes.

Just want to check with others whether the examiner reply is normal or is it just for me.

I attended in Reading Passport office and they mentioned that the passport is being printed in some other office.

Few Informations:
While booking the interview the customer service people are very helpful. My interview was
10:45, but i changed it to 08:45 on the same time. They done it very quickly. I will
recommend when you send the application, please use post office check & send service, where
i made a serious mistake, and they looked it very carefully and made the correction. The interview
was very friendly which they confirmed me that this is only identity check interview which
they need to confirm the passport for the right person. They only asked me about personal information
and my family education and job background.Victoria passport office customer service was excellent and
very friendly. I got SMS for printing for passport and my passport on the same day, just one
hour 25 minutes different. My passport and my supporting documents came with DX SECURE courier,
but i didn't asked to do it while i send it through check & send. The post office customer service people
asked me to do it with a small charge but i said normal delivery is fine and they did not
charged me for this.But i got the secure delivery with free of charge. I am very impressed
with the victoria passport office service and the post office check & send service.

Finally, Alhamdulliah, Allah finished my British citizenship Journey. It tooks exactly 12 years
and 12 days.

May allah fulfill all of your wishes and i would like to take the opportunity to give the
special thanks to this (http://www.immigrationboards.com/) forum that it helps lots of people
to get an approximate idea that when they can get the passport/ILR/PSW. I am using this
forum from my PSW visa.
