I do not agree that check and send is better. When I applied for my daughter's first passport, woman at passport office wanted me to give her my birth certificate. I told her it is not required and her reply was she does it day in day out so she knows better. I don't have a birth certificate so I told her to send the application without it. She reluctantly sent it and there was no issue whatsoever. I didn't even bother about Check and Send when I applied for my son's birth certificate.

After reading all the wonderful posts, I understand that the Check and Send Service is better than the Apply by Post or On-line.
Given the beta service, the On-line process seems to be giving delays.
I am in a sales role and have to travel outside UK frequently. I would like to use my current existing passport of the foreign country for travels while my British Passport is being made.
As part of the documentation that needs to be submitted for a new Passport, I will need to submit the Passport (existing one that is from India). Is there a way to get this existing passport back quickly, once i submit for application or alternately, Can I got to any of the Her Majesty's Passport Offices and show them my existing Passport and request them to take a Photo Copy for the application processing? Do I have the option of using the check and send service to check my existing passport and send a photo copy as part of the application process?

Just send your passports and certificate of naturalisation.

I might have answered yes to a 'no' question by mistake regarding wether or not the mobile phone contract is in my name .(if that was the question) to which I said yes(phone belongs to my cousin), and could that be the reason? Thanks! It was in Derby. The questions were the standard ones, mentioned here many times: job, profession, counter-signer, family, banks, where and how I had applied. Nothing unusual.

BTW, got the printing SMS this morning.
