Out of curiosity, which of the passport office processed your application.......Am amazed at the speed in which your application was processed...well done.

The office was Peterborough I had done with the interview today Alhamdulillah even.the person.who.took.my interview was surprised to see the speed lets hope and pray I will get the passport in next few days inshaAllah je told me j will get it in 10 working dayz

I had to wait 10 weeks to obtain my passport. Please note that I have never been in contact with the Passport Office throughout the application process, so I do not know if my application has always been processed in Durham office or not.

Can you please confirm if the person who signed your form was contacted and also if you received a text or email about delivery. My british by descent friend applied in June and the application is in Durham office. Thanks.

the forum has gone quiet and the few last posts are not very upbeat to say the least.

just contacted home office and spoke to a nice guy
waiting time was not too bad

was informed that the application is still in progress.
as its a first time application i have to wait full 6 weeks period.

There is not much that can be done just wait and see situation.explained him that i have a job to start and i cannot start the job until i have a passport. Unfortunately there is nothing he can do to speed up the process.

so six weeks is the standard now.

We're going a bit off topic but what should we expect in six weeks? To get an interview letter? To get back our supporting documents? or the actual passport? There are no clear indications and all they say is 'just wait 6 weeks'. But then they say 'obviously this is not guaranteed'.

I gave them a call today and told them I need to travel. Lady on the phone was filling some form for them to get back to me and she was looking for the time window in which they should call me back. Funnily enough she couldn't find that information either.

so I'm not sure whether I should be sad that I'm stuck here not being able to go anywhere or that a passport application can take more than 6 weeks in the 21st century...

you sent your app on 01/07/2014 so your six weeks finish next week. traveling or no travelling does not make any difference in my opinion. they will drag it to six weeks as thats the time they are allowed to take. (it just makes you feel that ohh my application has processed faster when 6 weeks is a standard processing time)

I think you will hear soon with regards to your interview and then once you have conducted the interview the passport should arrive technically in next "few" days.

some people get supporting documents before passport some get it after so its not very consistent. as far as i know

yup we just have to sit and take some more pain unfortunately but the only bright thing i see is that we are at the edge of the victory.

Yes - I just received one saying my passport is being printed and should be with me in a few working days. I was told they'd send it as a signed for delivery, but a friend of mine told me his was just put in the post box.

I haves applied for my First British Passport on the 29 MAY 2014 (NATURALISATION) received the interview letter on the 11 july 2014 after almost 50 called to the Passport Office requesting 1000 called back with no accurate information (made me feel stupid and silly) went to the interview on the 14.07.2014; been told at the interview to wait 10 days for my passport, which now is almost 3 weeks ago. I have called politely, in anger... Almost begged for an answer or time limit... In conclusion a FIRST BRITISH PASSPORT it's a night mare...

wow why don't you get your MP involved ? i mean your wait time is surely at the long end of things you should even expect an apology from home office along with your passport.

Write a strongly worded letter to your MP and ask him to chase it up.

I got an appointment for London Victoria for the very next day. I called at 8 am on 06/08/14 (when the telephone lines open) - so it may be that if you call first thing, you get one of the newly released slots.

They do ask lots of incredibly specific questions - I got asked things like what roads do you walk on as you walk to the train station in the morning, which GP are you registered with, what bank accounts you hold etc.

I know what you mean, the lady who interviewed me today was grilling me about my change of address in the application and was literally staring at me the whole time. she wanted to even know which bedroom i stay in my flat lol

I had followed up in the last week of July to find out what's happening - they did reply on 30 July but I was not any wiser, they simply said it is under examination or something like that, and that it is expected to be processed according to the timelines provided earlier.

I applied a few weeks ago. It turns out I need to travel for a work trip rather urgently. Does anyone have experience of getting expedited return of documents (i.e., original passport) early without cancelling or withdrawing the whole application? I understand that the application will take at least six weeks but I wondered if it was possible to get the original passport back before then.
