Hi Sian.b,

I was thinking on the same lines because they just mention 'may' . But eeverycase I have seen in this forum and have heard of have gone through the interview process. I can only wait and see when I get the PP hopefully in next few days. In terms of my name It is very unique and will only be one of us in UK for sure :). I will keep this forum updated anyway.

Thank you,

P.s: May be people who have got it with out an interview just kep quiet. With this backlog I can understand HMPO clearing applicaton which doesnt look suspicious with out an interview.

Hi MP1982

I have wondered the same thing. The Gov.uk passport site says ''Her Majesty’s Passport Office may ask to interview you as part of the application process.’’ Yet every post that I've read so far on this site indicates that people have to be interviewed. Maybe it's a mistake on their site in your case or maybe, they really do not interview everyone. Perhaps it depends on their country of birth, their name, their DOB to see if there is someone with similar details as I think the passport interview is mainly about counteracting identity theft??
Anyone else applied for their first British passport as a naturalised citizen and not needed an interview? I'd be curious to know also.

Here is an interesting situation.

Applied for my first British Passport (Naturalised citizen) on 15/05/14. Since the 6 weeks period have been passed and not receivng any feedback I started chasing the HMPO customer service. Yesterday spoke to a nice gentleman who wrote an email explaining my case to the officer who is handling my PP checks(need to travel for work soon) and sent that email while I was online. And this morning I get a text saying my PP is bieng printed and I shoudlr receive it soon. Bit strange isnt it? Has anyone is this forum or know anyone who have recevied their first passport with out an interview?

Thank you for your time in reading this post

khanjaan:
Your passport should be deliverd either today or tomorrow, they don't need a signature so you don't need to be at home. Your documents should be recived within 2 weeks of reviving your passport.
Recived mine this morning so my awaited journey is finally over :D

If it works to ask to speak to them we will need to do it. Applied 3rd June, at Durham, travelling the end of this month and no communication from them!

Thanks
AB is team that look to your case. If you can explain your situation to them, say 9 weeks passed nothing heard, can I get connected to AB. Few of staff on can say - sorry but we can't do anything, but I advice you to keep trying.

Hi,

I did not use any template. Here is what I wrote (and note that I do not know if it is a coincidence that my applicaiton was examined very soon after this)

My wife (<Insert Name>) and I applied for our first adult passport through
Passport check and send service on 10/05/2014. Our reference numbers
are <ref number> and <ref number>. We have made several enquiries about the
progress of our application and came to know that they were received in
the Durham office on 15/05/2014. Even after 6 weeks from the office
receiving the documents, we have not yet received the interview letters
whereas the expected standard time to get the printed passport is
maximum 6 weeks.

Every time I call the passport enquiry line they have one standard
reply which I have read number of times in the newspaper and I know has
been heard in the house of commons that I am simply unlucky to apply
during an unprecedented peak time. I would have understood this and
patiently wait if I was told an expected time. I know at least 7
persons who have applied weeks after me and have received their
passports and all of them were first time applicants like me. So, the
whole process appears complete random to me and that is what scares me
as there is no defined expectation, no queue and none can tell me when
my files will be examined, all they advise me is to wait indefinitely.

We have planned travel to India in the 1st week of August and that is
the only time we can travel and after getting our British passport, we
have to apply for Indian visa and time is running out.

In this circumstance, I can only think of your intervention as the last
resort. May I request you to please escalate my case?

British Passport application processing timelines-online app

Post by shiva29 » Tue Jul 01, 2014 3:38 pm

Hello friends,

I have recently filled the passport application thru online ( after I became naturalized as British from 5 yrs work VISA) and submitted the form to the Peterborough office by post.

I have learnt that, the parents details didn’t ask during fill the application in online as there in the paper based application form ( if you get the form from Post office) , so wonder if anyone faced the same problem and how do you manage to get the passport. Did they send any additional form and ask to fill it and send it back...

Please advise your experience on the online based application and how it went on ?

looking forward for any advice on that please.

Thanks

When you call, tell them connect you to AB progress team. My dad in same situation as you. Durham office is disaster. Today, we've managed to get on hold of them. If they didn't sent you interview, you probably might need to wait for the letter, where they write something missing (usually original passport).

Update on my case
