British Passport application processing timelines (only)

My online passport application had the page for my parents details I think they have corrected the error now and as for the process it's really simple & was dealt with witching a reasonable time scale. You have to print the declaration form etc but once it's all sent off it's fine.

I had my interview Monday and still haven't herd anything back and looking through recent posts it seems people are getting there's 2-3 days after the interview. I've rang the 0300 number and they advised 4 working days after the interview it will be dispatched & I go away a week today so I deceived to ring them then the woman at the interview said it's 7-10 working days and then I was advised by an agent on the phone there dispatched as soon as there printed so I think something is going wrong with this. My interview was done by contingency as there online systems were down, I think I might have failed as I was only asked 6-8 questions and got most of them wrong mums dob etc only out by 2 days. But as for someone else quoting it's impossible to fail and interview it's not. A girl at work failed because her signature was different and had to start the whole process again.

Hi,
My Wife gave an interview on Saturday(21ts June), but so far have not seen anything on Passport, no SMS message, when called 0300 number they said it might still take 6weeks to get the passport, has anyone had anything similar?
As far as I have seen on the forum, most of them who have had interview done, the passport has been delivered in couple of Days, but this is been strange for me, that there have been no update on my Wife's Passport.

It has been more than 7 weeks since I made my application and I haven't received any letter. Repeated phone calls to 0300 number as well as Durham office not yielding any results. All they say is documents etc seem to be alright and it is still being examined and that I should receive a letter for interview soon. Any suggestions guys as to what I can do ?

Please can you advise me, did you get any documents from passport processing team to fill and send them back since you applied thru online. I learnt that, the parents details are not asking while the application filled in online and in my case also the samething happened and sent to them two weeks ago. Then i checked here and understand that, whoever filled in online application, they will be asked the parents detail by sending an additional form to fill their parents detail, after that only the passport application was processed.

So, in your case, was it similiar thing happend and how did go your online passport processing....please advise me.

No, it isn't and it shouldn't be. Call the 0300 number you were given when you submitted the application and try to escalate your case to examiner team. If this doesn't work, I'd suggest you contact your MP to contact them directly.

I am based in Glasgow but like you, got app in Wales. Actually, letter wasn't delayed and came withing time limit.

I've read through the posts over the last few weeks and quite a few people have mentioned two different passport office locations dealing with their application. I wouldn't think this would delay it, they surely wouldn't do it otherwise. Maybe it's their procedure -they get sent to a central office then divided up to other offices from there depending on staff/workload etc?
I was thinking the same as you - mine was sent to Durham yet I live in Hampshire...I assumed they would send them to the nearest office.

I noticed something when the examiner called me up and gave me the reference number to book the appointment. She told me to speed up my application and receive my passport asap, when the interview is over, i should tell the interviewer to return the progress to them at Durham so they they cant get the passport printed straight away. when i told the interviewer she told me there was a note already on the computer stating that. i found that weird as i though all applications were dealt with from the office our docs were sent to.

Maybe after interviews, passports are printed from the nearest passport office and not from where it initially went. i dunno im just speculating.......

Getting a bit tensed with no progress update even after calling their helpline twice. Have plans for visa and travel. Looks like will cause a mess if it doesn't come back in 6 weeks time. Fingers crossed !

Update (18-Jun-2014) - The person who has counter signed the child's passport application has received a letter to confirm details. The same has been filled in and posted today (on pre-stamped envelope). Does anyone know how long (on avergae) should this take after this stage.

Update (20-Jun-2014) - Received a text saying the passport is being printed and should be delivered in few days. I'm expecting it tomorrow or early next week and will give an update. My application was processed in Peterborough.

Update (23-Jun-2014) - Much awaited Passport has been delivered today. Thanks to all who have been updating this thread. I'm yet to receive the supporting docuemnt which I think will be in few days.

Due to travel on 27th July....everything already booked. Hoping 7 and a half weeks from application to receipt will be long enough. My heart dropped when I found out today it was received at Durham, as that's the one that's been in the news and everyone here has been complaining about. I live nowhere near Durham so I'm not sure why it would be sent there?

This was the exact email I got when enquiring which office had received it. They seem to think they will process it within 3-6 weeks according to the email! I really hope so!:
