u r lucky i received my interview letter on 4/4/14 and i got my oppointment 17/4/14.

I guess people cancel or change their appointments for one reason or another, maybe I got a slot from someone who'd cancelled. The whole naturalization/passport process takes so long anyway, an extra week or so doesn't make much difference.

I've applied for my first (adult) British passport on 23d of March, received sms on 26th of March. Called today HMPO and was said that it's under examination in Liverpool.
Do you if I can travel with existing passport if they return it before interview?
Also does anyone know direct phone for Liverpool office?
And if I need to travel in 10 days is there any way to speed up the process? Or the only way is to withdraw the application?

Update: called on 3 April to enquire, as am planning local travel and wanted to plan around my interview dates. I was told that they can only tell that it is with the examiners in Liverpool office, and not sure how long it would take. I need my original passport back before 1 May.

Has anyone else applied for first passport whilst abroad? How long did it take you to get the first interview and subsequently to get the passport if you pass the interview?

I received my interview letter on03/04/2014 dated 01/04/2014 and booked an appointment on 10/04/2014 .
I don't think so now your calls will make any difference in process you should tell after sending the app in my case I did this to and they asked me travelling dates even I didn't book any tickets I explain my plans may be that's why they process my app quickly and also I send my app to Durham office through check and send .
Even I was reading so many post that Durham office delay the process .
I have good experience .

Dear All above is the passport application made on 18th March for my Child, we have received the SMS but since then no reply, could someone please advise when should we receive the passport and Documents sent.

I applied same day as you for my child. Found out after so many calls that they have written the person that signed my form. So it is possible they have sent out a letter to yours too and their letter takes ages to be received.

I just sent off my application for the British passport. I used the Post Office check and send and paid the extra £3 to have the documents sent back special delivery. Also I applied for the jumbo passport (just for the hell of it). But I am curious as to how people know what date it arrives at IPS because I see on my receipt there is no reference number to check delivery or anything.

You have to call passport office and give the ref in which is on post office receipt otherwise we can't track online.
