British Passport application processing timelines (only)

I just sent off my application for the British passport. I used the Post Office check and send and paid the extra £3 to have the documents sent back special delivery. Also I applied for the jumbo passport (just for the hell of it). But I am curious as to how people know what date it arrives at IPS because I see on my receipt there is no reference number to check delivery or anything.

there is no direct number for the peterborough office Collipu. The only way to get through them is via the 0300 number and speaking the Passport service.

Tried that many times. I needed my original passport submitted back urgently but they are unable to help!

Application Type: New
Method of application: Check & Send (Manchester/ Salford) Will be sent to Liverpool office.
Date of application: 11/03/2014
Date application received by IPS: 13/03/2014 for mine and 14/03/2014 for both children.
Date of SMS: 17/03/2014.
Date of return of documents: Mine on 01/04/2014 (Children still waiting)
Date of receipt of interview letter: 27/03/2014 (Dated 26/03/2014)
Date of Passport Appointment: 03/04/2014. Manchester.
Date of Passport Receipt: Children 31/03/2014 . (My daughter's name was spelt wrong in the passport, I took it to Liverpool and they issued me a new one in 2 hours)
Date of Passport Receipt: Mine 07/04/2014 (Printed on 03/04/2014, same day as my interview appointment)

Does any one know how long it takes for children's original doc to be received back. It has been more than a week and I need their Citizenship certs.

I understand this is a timeline thread but I need some advice on one of the questions in the parents details section of the passport application form.
After Applicants Mother's details it says " Date of marriage/civil partnership to the father/2nd parent of the person mentioned in section 2 (if this applies)".
As both my parents are foreign nationals and were born abroad, do I have to put the details in or shall I leave it blank?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

It clearly says if your parents have/had british passport not foreign .everybody,s parents are foreign national am I right?

Hi if you r worried then cross on the form secure delivery option it will cost you £3 but ll be deliver by secure mail.and I really experience that check and send very good service I got my interview letter in just two weeks time.

Does anyone know how to request the passport back?

You have to write a letter and fax it to one number. They will process the request within 4 hrs and the passport can get to you same day. But they will warn that it can delay your application and they can request for it back. Call the 0300 number to get the fax number. Cheers

They basically want to see how you react and answer to certain question as they are trained to see if you are lying or not.

i have seen some interviews questions that they are asking about ur kids and cars registration details.
how they kno that how many kids u have or which car model u have etc???
i have a son but i did not mention in my citizenship form but my son got british passport coz my wife applied on her behalf coz she is british even n my son's birth ceritificate i do not have my name.
if they ask me n interview about my son what should i have to say.

It's been almost 4 weeks and I've heard nothing. My passport application is w/ the Durham office, and they started handling it on the 22nd, apparently (12 days after they received it). I've been here on an extended holiday (American, but British by descent) and am required to leave the country by the beginning of May (6-month visa). I've called the office several times and I've been getting completely different answers. One woman said that my passport was waiting to be printed, another said to call back April 17th to get my status, and the rest just tell me it's being processed. I actually had one guy tell me that I've checked the status of my application 3 times and for me to stop calling. I was promised a call back from the Durham office within 24-hours, two days later IPS finally calls me back..but it's the call-center! And she wouldn't xfer me to the Durham office. The customer service has been pretty horrible and I just want my American passport back. Anybody had any similar experiences??

You just get transferred to a call centre, they have no clue. Will make a complaint soon!

Anyone else waiting for the interview letter who applied in March?

i applied non 17 march through check and send service and they received on 19 march and they give 20 march for examination after that i called then to check status and lady asking me some silly questions that r u traveling, did u send on ur own application and then nothing.

They asked me too when I was travelling? Pretty sure he couldn't see anything on the system, just making up stuff.
