I applied through Post office check & send service on 5th March. How many days I need to wait for get SMS confirmation? Is there any online link where I can track the delivery status?

Mine took 3 days, but looking at other timelines, some people don't even get the SMS.

Though suggest to use special delivery and cross on secure delivery (on the form) for the return of document, as my documents were returned using 2nd class post and the envelope was open.

Hmmmm! What happens to the extra £3 paid towards SD then? In your instance your documents were not misplaced, good ending but what if.......even though you had paid extra.

Thanks Apple02. Yes I went for a private ceremony. I didn't use c&s and sent it straight via recorded delivery. Though suggest to use special delivery and cross on secure delivery (on the form) for the return of document, as my documents were returned using 2nd class post and the envelope was open. Just an update on my case, I had passport office contact me and confirm that they have received our applications on 25th Feb (sent on 22nd Feb) and is being processed. Thank God for that.....a bit relieved now! They are having some problems with their systems, hence no confirmations are being sent out. Hopefully in next couple of weeks should get final news

I am so worried right now..I had to send my full birth certificate as I only had my small pink one and assumed that is what they meant..anyways that got there on Monday and I have been emailing a lady from the passport office who emailed back yesterday stating that they had now received my birth certificate and that it is now under examination..I rang today just to double check and the man I spoke to said they had received a document but couldn't see what it was so he put me through to someone else who told me they were still waiting on the certificate. Who the heck do I believe?!

I think that I mentioned to you to completely disregard what the helpline people say. They are clueless!
Just try to relax and surely you will get the interview letter early next week at the latest. Trust me on this!

Sent application 18th Feb post office check and send txt recd. on 20th Feb interview letter 28th Feb interview 04th March documents received 05th Mar confirmed passports printed today.

Spoke to my local post office this morning and have confirmed all the stuff that has been stated regarding tracking. No tracking available from post offices! Spoke to passport office and have been asked not to worry and just wait for 3 weeks. Don't know why! I have waited 2 weeks now and next week is final. If I don't hear then I am sure to escalate this.

I called HMPO yesterday to check my application status. She said its too soon to get your information and the officer/Caseworker will send you the interview letter once they have done their checks!

All I have just been to the post office there is no tracking number what it appears as they send it by some special courier to the passport office or indeed a Roymail mail van will take it but she was not letting me on too much information, but I think all out application might be there waiting to load on system and because it first passport that should normal take six weeks so might be another reason but I think by next week we should see something .

Hi All,

As i am in the same situation i called the Post office Help line to find out the Tracking number for the passport application. After talking to a person on the phone i gathered the following information.

1) The Post office will dispatch your application on the same day you do Check & Service if it is a Crown Post office irrespective of the number of application they receive on that day.
2) The reason for Post office not giving you the Royal Mail Tracking Number is: They put your application in a small sealed envelope (i witnessed my self) when you give them. End of the day they put 3 applications together in one Special Delivery Envelope which they receive on that day and send them. So they cannot give you the tracking number as it is not only your application but there are 2 more applications in that envelope/tracking number.
The only place you can get it confirmed is at the HM passport office help line.

This way they save some money on Special delivery charges.I'm not sure how much of the above information is true. But this might give you an idea about how the Post office Check&Send process works.
