You are absolutely right... I didn't send my old passport & biometric card..

The guy said to me that HMPO might ask for it by sending you letter.. & I said to guy that, if that happens, I'm fine with it... I'm ready to take that risk... but in the evening when I called Adviceline, they confirmed that they don't need biometric card.. neither do old (cancelled) passport.

I suggest, you too call Adviceline & ask them same question.. & please post what reply you get.. we'll have another confirmation..
I just called them, the lady on the phone was saying no need for cancelled passport and biometric. she just said in some special circumstances they need ILR, but in -our case that we have citizenship they no need it.
she confirmed, application form+ 2 phot+ valid passport+ naturalisation certificate is absolutely OK., hopefully we will get it soon

Absolutely right!! No need to send... to support this argument, you are a citizen.. and citizen don't have ILR.. Nowhere in the guide it's mentioned... you can call Adviceline & ask them same...

He asked for my biometric card as well and was saying need to sand biometric as well!!!!.. I didn't have my old passport and biometric with me so I sent my application form+ 2 photograph + valid passport, nationalisation certificate.
Yes, that happened with me too.. and I insisted that cancelled passports are not required as it's clearly mentioned in guide (I showed them guide that comes with form), then they said that biometric card is required, I again insisted No, as that card is for ILR holders & citizen are not ILR holders, also, no where in the form it is mentioned about sending Biometric card.

Later in the evening I called HMPO & they confirmed my understanding was correct.

I guess PO C&S people are worse than NCS staff about knowledge of process/documentation... Although I used C&S service, felt that I shouldn't have used it... it was waste of money..

Hi p2kin,

thank you. so u didn't send ur biometric card and cancelled passport, am I right? the guy in the post office was saying they will contacted u and ask for cancelled and biometric card!! so annoyed.

Date SMS received : 10.02.2014 (only one SMS - may be confirming both applications?)
Date of return of documents: 20.02.2014
Date of Passport Receipt: 20.02.2014 (Received only 1 passport and waiting for next one)

Can someone shed some light on this why both passports haven't arrived together? and shall I call HMPO to check for 2nd passport? Plz note we have received all supporting documents sent with both applications.
Don't worry about it, the second one will come separately, the same thing happened to me when i did my kids passport (2), they came on separate days, and i don't think they are even put next to each other when typing them up or what ever, because their validity / expiry dates are different, they are within two days of each other.
FYI, we received the 2nd passport this morning via DX service. 2ndly both passports have same validity / expiry dates.
Due to security reason HMPO don't send all passports same day, this is what IPS agent told me yesterday.

Good luck to all.

The counter signatory can complete all other bits in the relevant section and sign, leaving the date bit blank. On receipt of your certificate, just insert the date yourself. Probably it is illegal i do not know, but it is just the date you are inserting. It is not as if you have fraudulently completed all the other bits of the counter signatory form yourself or forged his/her signature.

And remember if they passport office have any doubts , they can always contact the counter signatory and I am sure he/she will vouch for you, nevertheless especially if both of you have agreed on the issue at the point he or she was signing it for you.

You can also complete the rest of the form as well leaving the date bit blank also, after you sign. Complete the date bit on the day you receive your certificate.

I know not everyone has it easy to find a willing counter signatory and/or it may not be convenient/possible for you to find one after the date of your certificate receipt. So you need to be proactive and intuitive about such things.

Having said the above you should decide which route you want to take, considering previous advice by p2kin.

you should sign & enter date before countetsignatory signs it. It's a legal requirement and you signing form on the date clearly ask you to confirm that you are a British citizen. So legally you can't sign & put date before ceremony & unless you sign, your countetsignatory should not be signing. I hope this answers your question.
