I think once you get your passport, you will not need to take this drastic action of changing your name. I think it is only at the stage of granting you important documents ie naturalisation and passport they want to make sure they do not hand them over to an undesirable person. Once they eliminate you and decide you are not that person, then I am sure you will not face any other problems in the future.

I am sure that on a regular basis HMPO does receive this kind of applications eg Peter Smith's sharing same DOB. Once they ascertain and distinguish between the two, there won't be any further problems.

I do not know inner workings of HMPO but it would appear that interview is the last stage before passport is issued. Everything is decided first, and interview is just the stage to confirm that you are who you say you are, and not your neighbour who is stealing your id.

I think you will receive your passport soon after interview.

Good Luck.

My feeling is, like I said before, it seems your details closely match of an undesired person, and probably that led to such a long wait for naturalisation approval.

Now HMPO must have picked up the same thing, but I am sure this time it won't take that long, as now HMPO can check with UKBA and they can confirm you are not that other person. Give them 7-8 weeks, and ring them. If they still do not progress, then contact your MP.

Ayyubi72

somehow i think your feelings are right

luckily i have received my doc and booked interview: is tomorrow

but what worries me is this similarity ( name or D.O.B) with someone else which caused all these troubles.

i think once this is sorted I might contact a solicitor and consider change of my name

let see what is gonna happen with my interview first

@KMothPur - how was the acknowledgement sent? did you pay anything extra for this or did they simply email/text you using the info on your application form? Thank you.
No Babykjake, I didn't pay anything extra. I received just a text from HMPO. I have assumed that is the acknowledgement. I am not sure whether I will get a letter or anything.

babyjake: If you check my timeline, it took me exactly 2 weeks to get the passport. So hopefully it shouldn't take long in your case (but it all depends on when you get the interview letter and how quickly you book an appointment).

There is one thing it has been delivered to my house at 18:30 and it wasnt DX secure as I paid £3 I should get my passport via DX Secure. They sent my interview letter and my documents via DX secure never sent my passport via them. Anyway it came home safely without any problems.
