By the grace of Almighty I received my passport this morning, yes on Sunday morning around 7.30am which was totally unexpected. It was posted through the letter box and no signature was required.

So after 11.5 years my immigration journey is over...... Phewwwww (well not completely over as I still have to apply for my wife's ILR in Sept this year, that means I'll still be around).

I found the passport office staff very pleasant and helpful. During the interview I never felt for a second if that was some kind of interview, it was more like talking to someone who already knows a lot about you (like your secret admirer). Lol but I would still recommend to read through all the passport interview questions provided in the forum

I called the customer service number and the helpful chap told me that they already sent me a reference number to book the interview appointment. As it may take longer to receive it (second class coupled with royal mail redirection), I asked the person if he could give me the reference number and phone number to book the appointment. He did and went for the appointment yesterday.

I suggest people to read the example questions on this forum before going to the interview. Some of the question might trip you. For e.g. what's your parents DOB. I am sure quite a few of us don't know it (even my parents don't know the true DOB )

Glad some of you are getting good turnaround. I put my passport application in by ncs last tuesday. Work booked me in for a trip on the 18th so i called to see if my old passport would be back. The answer? They've only just put the application in the system. So it's sat on ice for over a week.

I guess i call every day and try to nag them into sending my old passport back next week.

Not a particularly efficient service.

It's a common practice to send British passport along with your supporting documents. No need to worry.

Just got interview letter today. IPS guy said I will not receive my documents back until the end of the process.

I was amazed how quick the whole processing is. UK government has less red tape compared to to other EU governments! I worked in Spain at one time and just getting a work permit is a NIGHTMARE.
