Passport Application clarification

Post by spedds » Fri Feb 15, 2013 7:47 pm

Appreciate if someone could provide clarification.

There are four boxes to check in Section 4 of passport application form.
Any idea what is the basis for the four boxes and which ones to check under what conditions?

Thanks.

What checks? Those have all been done before you got your interview letter.

2-3 days ( not counting weekends and holidays ) maximum unless you live somewhere real remote like a Scottish Island ( in that case 5 or 6 ).

Civil servants like the one you spoke to are instructed to lower your expectations - just in case the printer breaks or there is a strike or natural disaster.

Thanks rod_p, this has really put my mind at rest. Thanks for your reassurance :D

Hopefully i won't have to wait for a couple of weeks to get mine through the mail. I just wonder what they would be doing for a couple of weeks just to print a passport, do they need to carry out more checks after the interview? :?

Had my interview today, at the reception before signing me in, the guy there told me that i wont get my passport today (not that i was expecting to walk out with it straight from the interview :-), that it takes a "couple of weeks"
Looking at the passport timelimes, others have received their passport two to seven days after the interview, so i just wonder why the guy told me this. Has anyone been told this or is it a normal procedure with the IPS to marry with their six weeks timeline? :o

You will need to go to a post office to get a form (if you don't want to fill it online). Take passport photos that conforms to the photo requirements, fill the form, sign and date; get a countersignatory to fill, sign and date your form and also countersign one of your passport photos. You then take it to the post office (if you want to use check and send), with your recent country passport, any old/uncancelled passport and your naturalization certificate. The staff at the post office will check if it has been filled in properly and check if you have included the neccessary documents. If everything is okay, you then pay for the application and if you want your documeents returned recorded delivery you pay £3 (you will need to tick a box on the form, if you want this service).
I hope this explanation helps you?

In most cases 7-10 working days. I think you might be rushing it a bit if you call them tomorrow. However, it's your call.

posted requested documents and received by IPS on 23/01/13.

Yours took a very long time to get processed. They actually returned your documents after such a long time?
Can you share what documents were requested?

My husband eea3 card showing settlement prior my baby's birth.however,I must say if I didn't call IPS and find out,I would be still waiting.in January when I rang IPS,then someone told me that they need that document but then she immediately realised that she has to write to me,so after that phone call,4 days later I received letter to where to send the document...well,now I have the passport and happy.its funny that they want to see settlement document when my husband has naturalization certificate.clearly u have to wait a year after settlement before applying for naturalization....
Ok, got you now. Congrats on your passport! :)
Thanks
