I disagree.i have been checking for the past 4 days consistently. I haven't seen any free appointment. I have a theory UKVCAS is deciding to move to the IDV and charge the many for the walk in appointments and that's a disservice to the many and country as a whole.

Yes I also think free biometrics will be directed to IDV with risk of longer waiting time for approval. Whereas if we want quicker decision (next day for premium), we will have to pay for appointments.

I called UKVCAS again yesterday as I was sooo tempted to pay for premium lounge appointment to speed up the process. The IDV team said DON’T book as the docs have been submitted via IDV to UKVI so there is nothing I can do at this stage than wait. It’s double work for them if we submit twice via IDV and appointment. That’s what they said on the phone...

I will give another week. if I don’t hear anything until Friday, I will definitely book appointment. At this stage, all of us including the IDV team can only guess how the new system works..

I completely understand your point and I was also patiently waiting hence why did not bother opting out from IDV App. But looking at how incompetent UKVI process is where people are getting approval when they applied way after so many of us and doing biometric at centre getting approval but not via IDV.
I understand all cases are different but looking at approval rate here and Twitter, it seems either due to lack of resources to process IDV submission which is causing delay or it is definitely not as functional as biometric submitted at centre.
Nevertheless, I got free appointment so worth giving a try and see what happens.

Some also got quick decisions via IDV app route and some are still waiting after attending biometrics appointment also. Having said that, if you got a free appointment and are willing to attend etc, its good to test your luck.

I just notice there are many free appointments in croydon. I just booked mine too for Thurs, see what happens. Will keep you guys updated

Updating my application timeline here if it helps someone.

Stage1 application to tech nation- 03rd July
Endoresement date:- 07th July
Stage2 Switch from Tier 2 application date:- 21st July
Biometrics reuse mail:- 6th August
Access to IDV App :- 04th September
Submission of docs and verification on IDV:- 04th September
Physical Appointment lansdowne road Croydon:- 11th September (6pm)
Application Successful Email: 15th September(11AM)
Awaiting BRP Card

There is an appointment available at croydon today at 2pm (I know its very short notice) for £110 if someone wants to book on urgent basis.

Free appointments are going up quickly. As of the time of this post, Monday 21st Sep 9am FREE slot available at Landsdowne Road Croydon.

One week ago, all appointments in Glasgow were at least £110. Now there are free appointments available (even early in the morning and late in the day)..
We did the app though, so I am not sure we need to also book an appointment.. Seems a bit extreme..
