I'm sorry but this backlog is artificial.
UKVCAS needed to have on the 22nd of June (when they reverted to paid appointments again) done the following.
1. Opened up the booking system for 4 months rather than the current 1 month system.
2. They should have given people from 27 March to 30 April 1 week for priority access to book an appt.
3. Then invited people from May to book as well the following week
4. Then people from June the week after.
5. Then finally open the system up for everyone else.
This is what they were trying to achieve - put people who applied earlier first - and they could have done so. They didnt need to do anything else.
This would have probably meant up to 2 months to get an appt but people wouldnt have lived in uncertainty. They had a lot of unused slots in the current system - that wouldn't have happened. They would never have had to create an app that will only fully go live in November 2020
