Hi all
I am new here and I would like to know if it is possible to apply for naturalisation after 10 years and 6 months in the uk without holding the ILR in my passport but I have been married for more than 5 years to today
I came to the uk in November 2004 on student visa
in April 2010 I got married to an European and currently hold an eea family member from the 15 October 2010 and will expire on the 15 October 2015
I have called the HO to find out if it was possible to apply straight for naturalisation based on the 10 years and 6 months spent here
the woman I spoke to say it was possible but I need to read about the discretion on the restrictions time during the last 12 months ....
Any one applied for naturalisation based on the 10 years spend here ??
Any help will be appreciated specially people in the boat as me

hi nexus have you applied for ILR first before naturalisation, in my case I have spent 10 years and 6 months but I also hold an eea family member card till October 2015
I have also been married to my European partner for more than 5 years so I automatically get the ILR
please let me know
ps: I have also called the HO they said such an application is possible

I have applied on 12th Jan and still waiting. Tired to call HO this morning, went to auto answering and it cut me off as it's still under 6 months. I know we have to wait at the least 6 months for decision/approved but all I am considering right now that HO will send us a letter for another 3-6 months again that's annoying.
Has anyone send an email to HO regards to Jan application, if so please send us the link so we can see how many application has been made and etc over Jan time.

Home office still working on November and december applications now. So you should start expecting by the end of next month.

How do u know they r working on NOV & DEC applications? R u just guessing or is there anything definite suggesting this?

If you go to November and december timelines you will find some guys getting approval now. While its completely quite on jan and feb applications. So assuming they are working on november and december applications. Next in the que is January. So not long now

I haven't requested any statistics. However, I called them to understand why some applications were processed much quicker. I was advised all naturalisation applications are subject to enquiries and these enquiries are made by certain agencies on Home Office's behalf. Now what I fail to understand is that what enquiries are they making? They have all the immigration history and details so checking with HMRC or any other local agency shouldn't take that long right? Also, for people like me who have obtained ILR through Tier 2 or Tier 1, what enquiries are they making now which they wouldn't have made during extensions or ILR? Any idea anybody?

I have been reading March time lines recently. It looks like more approvals happening recently on March applicants!! Anybody knows how to request the statics from HO under FOI. or Has any one already requested, please update us. It looks like Jan & Feb Folks been sent to the back log!!!

Response from HO As follws.
This has been assigned to a caseworker (case ref 35253). We will aim to send you a full response by 01/06/2015 which is twenty working days from the date we received your request. I guess we will have to wait?
