Dear Zimba,

Thank you for your prompt response.

1. Just to confirm, as a third source of evidence, would a letter from our agency confirming our tenancy in our current address for the last 4 years be sufficient (plus copy of original tenancy contract from 4 years ago)?

2. Also, I noticed that in my wife's BRP it says "PBS DEPENDANT LEAVE TO ENTER", rather than Leave to Remain. In the online application it asks "Do you currently have a valid visa or leave to remain as a dependant of a points-based system (PBS) migrant?". We answered yes as there is no option for Leave to Enter, but technically her visa/BRP says leave to enter. Is this an issue? How do we deal with this?

many thanks

Dear Zimba,

1. Thanks for your response. I am going to include mine and my wife's bank statements in addition to the above. We don't have a joint one hence will be providing statements of individual accounts. The question I have is, do I need to include bank statement for each month of the past 2 years for both of us (i.e. 48+ statements)? Or 2-3 statements from both of us for each would be sufficient (in total 4-6 statements from each of us that cover last 2 years).

2. Do statement months have to match (i.e. if I provide for Oct 2019, June 2019, etc. my wife also has to provide for the exact same months)?

3. My wife works part-time in a clothing store and salary is paid in her current account. She pays into my account every month a certain amount for house expenses as most bills are paid by me. Could this be an issue (with her being my "dependant" and all, yet she transfers me a certain amount monthly)?

You do not need bank statements. Send bills or other documents covering the last two years. Her paying you expends is not an issue

Dear Zimba,

Thanks for your help and patience.

Apologies for seeking further clarification, but I really need this to have a clear picture before we go for biometrics: so far I have (1) council tax bill in our names, (2) utility bill in our names, (3) tenancy agreement in our names with recent letter confirming our tenancy for 2+ years at our current address. However, i feel these may not be sufficient as our original tenancy contract is 2+ year old and they may wish/ask further evidence. This is why I am thinking of adding one more "source" of evidence.

First, do you think above 3 sources are definitely enough?

Second, if I was to add a further source, I don't have any other documents apart from bank statements and NHS letters (this for my wife only). So I have a choice between our statements for current accounts (individual names) OR my wife's NHS letters + my bank statements. Is there any risk of adding NHS letters to the application (i.e. that she is using NHS too much, etc)? Or am I being too cautious?

In fact there are NO specific evidentiary requirements under the rules. You simply have to demonstrate that you are in a subsisting relationship. The advice given is based on UKVI notes which used to appear on old forms. You are really overthinking all this. If documents are not enough they will ask for more but this is rare

Dear Zimba,

Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it indeed.

In terms of writing a cover letter for my wife's PBS dependant extension application, should it be written by me (ILR holder) or by my wife (main applicant in this case)? I thought it is best if it is written by her. Is it fine ff she writes and says she is using my documents to support her application (my bank statements to show evidence of maintenance funds, my passport, BRP, etc.)? Or do I need an additional covering letter written by me saying I give consent for my bank statements to be used, etc.?

many thanks

Dear moderators,

We are going to attend my wife’s biometrics tomorrow for her PBS dependant application (I recently got my ILR) and I have a quick question regarding the date of bank statements to meet the maintenance funds.

We submitted her application on 26 Feb 2020.
Biometrics appointment tomorrow 4 Mar 2020.
My most recent bank statement is from 1 February 2020 (I attached last 4 months backwards to cover 90+ consecutive days).

The guidance says “having savings of £630 which must have been held for at least 3 months prior to the date of application”. I got a bit worried as it says 3 months prior to date of application.

Do my statements from 1 Feb 2020 and back cover this/comply with this? Or should my statements cover from 26 Feb back (in which case, should I attach my 1 March statement too, even though the application was submitted 26 Feb)?

Many thanks.

As repeated many times, the date of application is the date of online submission
