It's just a simple consent letter. As far as you state that both parents consent and you sign it it will be fine.

Birth Certificate questions for ROA application for British child born abroad

Post by OneTrickPony » Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:16 pm

My daughter was born in the Philippines and I am applying for a Right of Abode certificate for her and I am paranoid because my UK address (father's address) on her Birth Certificate was misspelled. Only one letter was misspelled. The postcode is correct thank God. Worth mentioning that the address is my old one which was not a suitable accomodation for three of us (my wife, child and me) and at the time of application I am now at new address where my wife and child are allowed to live. Do you think it is going to cause any issues?

This topic will be merged with your previous one. Just mention the typo in a cover letter. I can't imagine there will be an issue.

Do I need to make a separate cover letter for that?

Hi, sorry this is kind of very important question that I missed. In the application for RoA after I answered a question about nationality of my child's which is Philippines they ask: 'Do you currently hold, or have you ever held, any other nationality or citizenship?' Because my child is a British Citizen by birth (I am her father a naturalised British Citizen) should I answer Yes to this question? And after I say yes they ask date held from and date held to. Should I just date held from - date of my child's birth and date held to today's date? And it also asks me tick the box to confirm 'Confirm if you still hold this nationality'. Confusing sorry.

As child is British that should come first on the application, any other nationality after.

Yes. Answer British first to this question then add Philippines citizenship specifying your child still holds this nationality by ticking the box.

But the first question that says, state your nationality as indicated on your passport or national identity card. I first said that she is a Philippino national and then added additional nationalitites as British. Did I mess up? Does it make a weaker case?

Basically the way they worded the first question I was kind of inclined to answer Philippines as they referred to how it's written passport and her passport states Philippines. I already submitted.

Don't fret over this - they will evaluate your case according to what you have submitted. If they need anything more they will get in touch.
