That's what the guides have always said but I understand the Home Office have - or at least used to have - an 'unofficial' policy to the effect they normally would accept certified copies in lieu of the original.

If husband or wife is naturalised British they must be prepared to accept the naturalisation certificate - not all naturalised British citizens have passports.
I'm sure you're right, but I have the impression that the NCS offices are rather more "by the numbers" than the Home Office, and I think it's probably better not to rely on their being as flexible as the HO caseworker might be, with an application submitted direct to HO.

TBH, the main reason for my post was to underline the fact that the BC spouse's passport isn't the only option - albeit a month after the original question was posted...

I received a letter from the HO recently, apparently it was issued from CT8. Sounds interesting, doesn't it :?: :D

I get the impression that there are somewhere around 9 or 10 Caseworking Teams, and that routine applications are simply dealt out to them, pretty much on a random basis - I hope you're not going to be tempted to emulate another recent poster who was intent on analysing differences between the teams, when there don't actually seem to be any. I suspect the only thing that is notable about CT8 is that it's between CT7 and CT9...:)

Nicely put ... totally agree!

It needs to be appreciated that the office in Liverpool dealing with these applications is very busy! They receive on average about 600 new applications every working day! Accordingly it makes total sense to divide the workload up between various Caseworking Teams ... and no doubt as already said ... on a random basis.
