I have emailed them last week Thursday, asking them if they received my docs in good order ;) and they replied that they checked my Royal mail tracking no and confirmed that they received my docs on 25 October :( . They also said that they decide 95% of application within 6 months,..the applications are subject to enquiries to ensure that the statutory requirements are satisfied...some applications may be dealt with more quickly, other may take longer... :( etc.

Therefore we just have to be patient and wait.

Good luck everyone![/quote]

Finally! I gave up waiting for it and here it is. Received my approval today dated 02.12. Over the moon.

I've been advised in the letter not to contact Local Authority unless I don't receive invitation to the ceremony within 2 weeks. I thought I had to arrange dates with them - am I wrong? I believe all Councils have different rules.

Anyway, good luck to all! Normal post will take ages now as my letter was sent out 2 days ago in "next day delivery" envelope. Christmas coming - hope you get what you waiting for before that!

Date of debit of fees: 07/11/2013 - cleared (balance dropped 06/11)
Date of approval: 04/12/13 (dated 02/12)

Good luck to all those waiting and future applicants.
Hi Anu,
Congratulations on crossing the finishing line!
Do you mind if I ask, if you had met the residency requirements through other visas or is it just spouse visa? You had mentioned that you applied after 4 months of ILR. I applied for AN with less that one month ILR. I did not wait for a year like other BC spouses after their ILR, as I met the residency requirements through previous visas. While most BC spouses who applied around the time I applied have got their approvals, I am still waiting. I am just curious to find out if cases like myself take a bit longer. Would appreciate it, if you can get back at your convenience.
Many thanks
thirdlioness

it has been exactly 4 weeks since my application has been received. Reading this thread has been very helpful, at least i know there is a huge backlog ahead of me, so no need to stress that my fees haven't been deducted!!

Applying for your British Passport in February won't be a problem but travelling on a Indian passport will be a problem. Indian authorities will fine you when surrendering your Indian passport as travelling after your naturalisation will be an offence.

You should read up on this further and maybe delay your citizenship ceremony date.
