British Passport application processing timelines (only)

Hi everyone,

I am a recently naturalised British Citizen. I applied for my first British passport through Check and Send on 5th Nov (Wed). I am yet to receive the sms. I can see that someone else applied on the same day has received the sms.

Is there any contact number where I can follow-up my application progress?

U guys are lucky My application was sent on the 29/05 till now I have been to 2 Interviewed but no passport still. When I call them still they tell me they are busy, I have tried M.P, Complain department sent 10000 Emails, call million of times still nothing.

HI Sangoop02 ans malila1000,

you can contact 0300 123 1971. This is the number for passport priority handling team number. They are quite good and very helpful... my son's application was stuck for almost 2 months.. contacted them and they processed the application within 3 days...

u can check with them, what's the progress on your application..

According to passport application guideline:
2 photos
Any Uncancelled passports
Naturalization Certificate

If you are going to use Check and Send, they will also ask you for birth certificate, marriage certificate, your passport and BRP even though it is not required as per guideline.

Not only in returning documents, but the processing of applications appears to slowed down. I applied about two weeks ago and still waiting for an interview letter, I hope. I guess the pressure is accumulating on the passport department again. cannot wait to finish the whole process!

Thanks mate, yes I have notice some ppl got the document back even before the interview while some get with the passport. I am expecting that my new passport and documents will arrive tomorrow or sometime this week. Passport in 2 and half week still not a bad timelines , comparing I wait7 months for my ILR and 3 months for naturalization.

The folk at the helpline are very helpful. I called them today morning and he asked me to book the appointment and gave me the reference number. It's only after I booked the appointment that I got the letter for appointment. It was nice of them to provide that information.

I also found out that when we use Check and Send, it does not go in the Next day delivery. They collect all the applications together and send it according to their schedule. This could be different at different post offices - the busier ones might be sending them out more frequently. I think sending it on your own is faster - you might shave off a day or two in the whole process.

4, when did you first come to the UK? Where? Why?
5, your husband's name/date of birth, your marriage date?
6, where did you children were born?
7, do you drive? when did you pass your driving test and where? how many times (I answered 2 and he was impressed )
8, what kind of car do you have?
9, who is your car's insurer? (I said I did not know)
10, where do you live? do you like the town?
11, how did you get here? how long it took?
12, do you own the house? do you have mortgage? with who?
13, which schools you children go? what are the names of their headteachers and form tutors? and how do their uniforms look like?
14, when was your ceremony?
15, who attended the ceremony? any name you remember? how do you feel about the ceremony? why?
16, what documents you posted to apply passport?
17, who signed your form? What does he do? what is his age? how long have you known each other?
18, do you have a garden? any trees in your garden?
19, credit cards? bank accounts?

Hi everyone,

I sent my application on the 28th Oct via Check&Send but still didn't receive any text message from IPS confirming the receipt.
I called IPS on the 1st Nov to check if they've received my application and they confirmed that my application got delivered on 31st October.

Does IPS always send a text on the receipt of your passport application? Also I am still waiting for an interview letter.

I also sent my application on 1st Nov via Check & Send but still didn't receive any text message from IPS confirming the receipt. When I enquired yesterday, they told me yes they have received the application on 4th. I applied for myself and my son but text for none.

Yes I could do that as the person I was speaking to knew that the letter was already on it's way. He gave me the reference number on the letter and the number to call - you only need these to book the appointment.
