I called the customer service number and the helpful chap told me that they already sent me a reference number to book the interview appointment. As it may take longer to receive it (second class coupled with royal mail redirection), I asked the person if he could give me the reference number and phone number to book the appointment. He did and went for the appointment yesterday.

I suggest people to read the example questions on this forum before going to the interview. Some of the question might trip you. For e.g. what's your parents DOB. I am sure quite a few of us don't know it (even my parents don't know the true DOB )
Got my passport today. The journey is finally over after 11.5 years. Shame I am leaving the UK soon. Good luck for all of you waiting.

Thanks Emmigrator. I did the same as you - calling before I received in my hands the letter. The helpful guys gave mt the reference number and said I can book an appointment which was available the enxt day. Thankfully by the time I reached home after taking the apointment, I did get the letter eventually and thankfully again all my details were spelt correct in it.

Hi Slavek,

Congratulations! does this mean you didn't have to attend an interview for your passport? Please kindly confirm. I had my citizenship ceremony yesterday and applied for a passport (Post) same day.
Cheers

I must tell you guys to please try to remember the questions and answers specially about your parents and siblings if you had given in past when you came first time in uk. Interviewer has asked me few questions which I had mentioned at first application before coming into UK

The long journey is over for me (12 years, ILR + 1). I have chosen the longest, independent and most difficult route (based on continuous work and paying taxes), with years spent living and studying in the UK unaccounted.

Good luck to everyone else.

A note about the passport, it was really quick, I had it within two days of the interview and the staff were really friendly.

Might be accepted, but they're not wrong. The official advice says mistakes must be corrected by crossing out the erroneous text and putting the correct text in the next available boxes.

Indeed I have checked the leaflet ( did not bother as i applied for me and kids over many many times in last 30 years i assumed to know all :D)
the place where i put the tipp-ex on was section 4 i put first name first than crossed it out and tipp-exed it and moved to next boxes and put correct names that section is not even taken into consideration as My wife has been naturalised so no need for parent's details to prove she may be British. so let's wait and see
But the capital I was a real joke though

Update:

letter arrived today asking my Mrs to book appoitment so all went well as i expected it and again .The service from passport office is Top as always

Update

Interview went ahead today. 11.04.13
Most questions were about me and not my wife and were very difficult too but glad they made it hard for fraudsters. Mrs signed and the signature was not correct and was asked to sign again and it was accepted.
Some of the questions were a bit silly like when did you meet your husband? ..... how did you manage to get married and what job i did and where etc....

I had similar problem with them at the post office when i was about to post my son's passport application, i was asked to fill another application, i insisted that i don't have to and she was asking for more document, e.g my passport and my naturalization certificate and i explained to her that i don't need naturalization certificate because i have ILR b4 giving birth to my son, and my passport has been posted to naturalization section that i only have copy, she refused to accept it.
I just put a covering letter, put it in an envelope in her present and asked her to send it off, to God be the glory, i receive the passport today.
Sometime, they over do it
Its better to send all docs to the people concern
Good Luck to all

The IPS customer service is the best customer service I dealt with by a long way. I am not only referring to public bodies, but also some of the biggest household private company names. They are very efficient, friendly and highly professional. I plan to write then a letter of appreciation when I get a chance!!
