I also called and spoke to a man named Ono and he said they would be able to help 5 yr long stay applicant who are on tier 1 or 2 points based. It costs £1200 but they can get you a new form and appointment and you can have the passport and documents within a week! He seemed really lovely so it's worth a try for those that can afford it and have the right requirements. Sadly this is not a possibility for me but thought I would share!

PS tier 4 10 yr long stay applicants cannot apply for this service!

I had a death in my family yesterday and I need to write to the UKBA to expedite my application. I have emailed the head of the UKBA as well as the Home Secretary



I applied on 15 September 2012 and provided biometrics on 29 November 2012 . I have now been in the queue for over 7 months. My MP has told me on Monday that my application has not been touched yet.

Does anyone know a number I can Fax to ask for my application to be expedited.

Thanks, I did wrote to my mp but never heard any reply from him also did emailed to ukba neither they replied. The only choice left was to wait for the daily post.
It's easy said than done. Do contact your local mp and email to complaint dept of ukba too. Wishing you best of luck for your ILR application.

Now I wanna apply for MN1 for my son but there r couple of issues
1- his passport is expired, does he have to have a valid passport or just birth certificate will do?
2- the fee of £673, do I have to include £80 for cermony fee or as my son is just 5 years old he don't have to.

I have been a silent reader since I applied mine ILR.

Biometric done: 31/10/2012
Bio card received: 19/04/2013, dated 17/04/2014
Passport&docs: waiting

My case is very straight forward, 6yrs student+ 2yrs psw + 2 years student.
I called UKBA 1st time on 11/04/2013 and they said nothing had been sent out, then I emailed my MP after the call. MP's secretary replied and asked my postal address on 16/04/2013 and I called UKBA again with no luck.

those who are still waiting I think you will get yours soon!

PS: anyone know when I may apply for the uk passport based on current rules? Thanks a lot^^

I finally wrote to the home secretary and UKBA CEO. I am freaking out that i did but i'm sure its worth a try.

I spoke to someone in the UKBA today and as usual, my application is still pending. She was nice though but she gave me a silly response.

I asked,

"Does this mean my application has not yet been allocated to a case worker"?

She replied,

"Once we receive all your documents, it is automatically allocated to a case worker"

I found this response strange because we are under the assumption that no caseworker is allocated.

Anyway, wish me luck.

Ok, so I just found out that my case has now been given to a case worker but they cannot confirm a date of processing. How long does it usually take to process if its been given to a case worker? I remember asking before and someone said two hours but I was not sure?

Also....I found out from the lawyer that one of the reasons why there is such a backlog of July and August applications was because of the Olympics and that many case workers were being called off their desks to deal with boarder issues at the airport. The Olympics were a great success and we are all very grateful for their help ....so I am feeling a bit more empathetic towards their situation. It must also be very frustrating working in an office where the computer is constantly crashing on you.

Fingers crossed we will all here positive things from them soon.

Well my MP assistant called the MP hotline and they told her the other day that the last time my case was looked at was on the 15th April and that was to log into the system that I was past the 6 month time period but had not been assigned a case worker. She received a phone call today that informed her I had been allocated to a case worker.

Possibly when you turn your application in there are a number of processes of case workers? One to put you into the system and decide whether you can do your biometrics and then a final analysis of the case? I have no idea to be honest but when the assistant called the other day it hadn't had one and today it does?

4. request biometrics

6. assign to case worker

I don't know when UKBA actually looks at the application to determine e.g. that you actually sent the correct form - perhaps before biometrics invitation?

But maybe it is their approach, wait until the deadline (6 months) and then assign it to case worker?

Hi guys just let you know that my BRP card was redelivered today by DX courier since I was not at home yesterday. (Was requested redelivery online www.thedx.co.uk/delivery)

So for me all done and dusted for now except wife FLR and meet you guys next year if still alive. I have seen some wonderful people on this forum, especially Damanisshallo, Sanju9 and etc who are always here to help anyone. I really admire their time and effort.

Once again congratulations to who have received their ILR and Best of Luck for the people who are still waiting (I will suggest keep knocking the door until you don’t get response, MP,emails, FAX UKBA, etc). I will still keep an eye on this forum

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced same situation as me::

I have received me ilr 2 weeks ago and all my documents are back since I applied fl(m) for my wife at the same time, her documents are also back with mine but there is no visa no biometric for wife.

we have been waiting for two weeks in case they might have sent it separately but still we have not received anything. I called ukba and they checked her reference number and said her application is still in progress but how is that possible as all her documents are sent back to me?

Did anyone get into this situation and what should I do now?

There is no point in speculating how the home office works. They have to do what they do. The opacity of the process is a problem as acknowledged by the home secretary as well, but there is absolutely nothing one can do (other than making noises) to fasten the process or make the process more transparent.

The home office is also walking on the tight rope. The overall objective is to deter further applications so that the overall number of applications is reduced. They can do this by a) making application requirements tighter, much tighter than before, b) making the application process so opaque such that no one wants to apply and/or c) approving only a certain number of applications a months/quarter/year (this isn't a cap - it's a simple but purposeful delay).

I hate to say it, but I personally support the home office making it difficult for international students (and I would say the EU as well) to enrol on obscure courses at some college that we haven't even heard of. Those students only realise that they have made a mistake/wasted a year after they arrive in the UK. The licensing, in my judgment, has to be even tighter and should be given to reputable 6th form colleges and universities that award qualifications that help those oversea and EU students reach their goals (and have better life). I don't think an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification from a local college (perhaps validated by some university) or some obscure university (if any) no UK student wants to attend actually helps those students in the labour market here or back home. Even in one of good universities, there are courses only a few UK students attend (not just for financial reasons) and rely on the oversea and EU students to maintain lecturers and administrators. MBA in a non-reputable school is a good example.

There are 40 higher education institutions in London and qualifications from some of these universities make it so much easier for us to do what we want to do in our life. Qualifications from others probably make no difference despite the tuition fees. There are many specialist colleges in London as well.

At the same time, the home office has to make sure that every application is treated fairly and promptly. Legitimate applications need to be approved as soon as possible. These operational requirements need to be balanced with their objective/promise/order from the ministers to reduce the overall immigration.

The more you think about it, the more powerless you feel (as an applicant). I understand everyone's frustration and I myself used to think that way. But why don't we focus on things we can control?

I decided to write a letter to Teresa May, Rob Whiteman, the Home Office and cc's my MP. My MP's assistant (who is very helpful) was able to find out today that they only acknowledged my application being over six months on the 15th April....when really it would have been on the 31 Feb. Not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign. Anyway, I thought I would provide a copy of the letter I sent if it might helps others.

Dear Teresa May,
I am writing to you regarding the UKBA and the serious delays (nearly 8 months) with my Indefinite Leave to Remain application. I am not one to complain but, after watching the Channel 4 program UKBA Uncovered, I was so distressed by the state of the UKBA I felt it necessary to voice my concern. I have been corresponding with my local MP NAME regarding my case and he has sent a letter on my behalf regarding the progress of my application. I have also written a personal letter to the head case worker along with two faxes.

Details of my application:

My Concerns:
1. Applications made after mine have received a decision while my application has not been allocated to a case worker. UKBA promises that they process applications in the order they are received and this clearly has not happened in my case.

2. UKBA has seriously delayed my application processing beyond their published service standards. This is due to maladministration at UKBA and no fault of my own. This lack of transparency has caused me tremendous mental stress and has prevented me from visiting my partner, my grandmother, and applying for jobs.

3. I was also surprised to see how many other government departments are being affected by the lack of competency of the UKBA. MPs should be focused on solving their constituencies’ and the country’s bigger problems and not having to deal on a daily basis with the failures of this department. Allocating the responsibility to other departments such as Enforcement does not solve the problem but only embeds the issues deeper. To see the UKBA workers laughing about this on the undercover video was quite upsetting.

4. Although dividing cases into a range of difficulty is a good idea, I believe it is too late. I think there needs to be a major government intervention to process the 50,000+ backlog cases and a fundamental transformation of the department is needed. The fact that the show highlighted that nothing has actually changed since the Easter deadline was disturbing.

Please can you provide me with a clear timeline for the processing of my application and clarity about my other concerns? These 50,000+ cases are PEOPLE; people who have paid approximately £1000 for the UKBA to uphold their responsibility. In any other industry, when a deadline is set, you do what is necessary to meet it. That may mean sleepless nights and long weekends but lawyers, doctors, bankers, stockbrokers, sales associates, and students all have to meet their deadlines and thus should the UKBA!
