Luckily i had taken a quick photo of the letter so that I had some sort of reference number and since I had used NCS, the lady at the town hall remembered me and said they have some discretion about it even though they are instructed by the HO to collect originals.Another good reason to use NCS I suppose. It was quite a pleasant ceremony and lasted about an hour and a half, followed by tea with the mayor and mayoress, but that probably varies from council to council, this was Windsor and Maidenhead.

I cant complain, the ncs person told me when i applied that although it could take 6 months, they were advised by the Home Office that 3 months is what they should be suggesting as a rough timeline. Good luck.
