Eu Treaty files waiting time - EU1 or EU1A

Hello,
I came in ireland in 2023 September with my husband who is an european national i applied my eutr 1 got stamp 4 eufam in august 2024 but today I received a letter from the minister stating to submit employment documents of me and my husband both of our original passports and children passports and all the renting and utilities bills since august 2024. I just wanna know if this is normal because i already have the resident permit till 2029 and how long they are going to take to return me the passport.

The Stamp 4 Eufam card is conditional based on EU National exercising EU Treaty Rights. So EU Treaty Rights Division can review anytime. Few people received similar letter through email, mostly if they contacted them after getting Stamp 4 Eufam permission.

I’m a non-EU national who grew up in Ireland—moved here at age 5 and held a Stamp 4 through my parents, who are now naturalised Irish citizens.

In 2020 I met my partner (an EU citizen). We moved to the Netherlands in 2022 so she could do a master’s, and I’ve been working there as an engineer for the past three years on a Dutch Stamp 4 EUFAM linked to her.

We’re now back in Ireland (arrived March 2025) because she’s expecting. I’ve just received a job offer due to start 1 July 2025, and she’s been offered a place on a master’s here beginning this September. She’s currently working on a short-term contract as an opera singer, and we have substantial savings.

Question:
If I submit my EU Treaty Rights (EUTR1A) application within the next week—with all supporting documents ready—am I likely to receive the temporary Stamp 4 letter before 1 July, so I can begin the new job on time?

(I only need to pop back to the Netherlands briefly to return my former employer’s laptop and badge.)

Hi,

You could receive the temporary stamp 4 within 4 weeks or more. Depending on the documents you are submitting and timing.

If you are sure your Netherlands RC hasn't been cancelled already ( Normally it's done when you register in another EU country or during your deregistration they cancelled your card) you can travel with your wife there and back. However don't go alone incase they have already cancelled it you will have an issue on arrival in NL, your wife will have to fly there. But if she's accompanying you and you are travelling within EU they have to issue you a visa or entry stamp on arrival if you need one.

Thanks for the tip! I submitted my application and actually received both my acknowledgment letter and temporary Stamp 4 letter within 5 days. I had previous residency here, so I was able to apply for the temporary Stamp 4 online.

I’m going on holiday to Spain for 2.5 weeks at the end of the month, so hopefully my IRP will be ready by the time I get back or at least before I return to Immigration in Dublin.

I also returned briefly to the Netherlands last weekend, and since I’m still registered there, my Dutch residence card hasn’t been cancelled yet. I had no issues travelling in or out.

For reference:
I submitted my application on 26 May, and I received both the acknowledgment and temporary Stamp 4 letter on 30 May. I’ll update you all once I get my IRP!

Don't forget since you have been approved temporary stamp 4 meaning your application is in the next phase, they can communicate with the Dutch authorities which is centralised nowadays and you will have an issue in NL and cancel your residency there. This can affect your Dutch residence card too. Don't forget in your EUTR form you wrote down your Dutch info plus when applying for PPSN you will have to provide your previous EU tax number/social security number. You are a non EU citizen and can't hold 2 EU residency in Ireland( Unless if you were in Schengen and had EU-permanent residence card).

Deregister in Nederlands since your new residence is Ireland.

It is not required if EU National is exercising EU Treaty Rights through Employment. I have confirmation that if EU National is employed no medical insurance is asked. There is no new law.

Stop spreading false information. Health insurance is required for first time registration for even stamp 4 for Irish spouses including stamp 4 EUfam. Visit ISD page..

Under the Irish Visa Office policy, both qualifying and permitted family members are exempt from visa fees if the visa is for joining the EU citizen exercising Treaty Rights.
* This includes durable (de facto) partners who are applying under the Join Family - EU/EEA category.
So even though you are a permitted family member (not qualifying), you are still exempt from paying the visa fee when applying under this EU route - as long as you:
• Are applying to join your EU citizen partner
• Are submitting your documents with proof of the durable relationship

For your information someone was asked for health insurance recently after given an appointment and posted it here and what you see on their website is current. 31st March 2025 information is what stands until they update their website again. You clearly don't know what you are talking about.
