Hello!
I am an 18 year old boy from Sweden. My wish this summer is to start working and living in New York City. Since I will graduate this year and do not have any previous work experience, the jobs along with a visa, will not be handed out easy to me. However I am not picky and would settle for any low-paid job, as long as it provides a legal work permit. I read about the H-2B visa, which seemed fair because I probably do not want to stay more than one year, and figured that it is the only way for me to work legaly there.
The question is though, what is an avarage cost for an employer who sponsors with a H-2B or H-2A visa? Is it in any way reasonable to send job applications to several restaurants, shops and whatnot in the city, or will it by default always cost them too much to hire a ”guest worker”? Maybe not the smoothest way, but can you attract them with saying that you will work for a lower salary, to compensate for the costs, or do I break some regulation then?
Thanks in advance!
