Temporary Work in US from AU

Post by aa84 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 2:42 am

I am a trained early childhood teacher in Australia, working primarily in the childcare setting and am wanting to make a move to the US for a\ period of 1 to 2 years, along with my partner who is a general laborer/warehouse person.

Was wondering what visa would be best to apply for? I would like, if possible, to be employed as a teacher having assessed my qualifications against US standards. Should I apply for a H1-B visa?

As for my partner, should he apply for a temporary visitor visa? Will this allow him to work even part-time in the US?

Also do we both need to secure a job before heading to the US?

Thank you for your time
:D :D

Who is your sponsoring employer?

Individuals can not apply for an H1B visa to allow them to work in the US. The employer must petition for entry of the employee. H1B visas are subject to annual numerical limits.
