work in ireland after the PPS Number

Post by Kwery » Mon Apr 16, 2012 11:01 am

Greetings Forum,

i apologize for bothering with this question today. i work in Ireland, I am from Italy, but my girl friend is from Bulgaria, we are not married, but we live together since 2 years, we understand that she can life and reside in Ireland without any visa, but for work we have some confusions -

We were told that she would not have an issue in applying for open vacancies, once she has the pps number - we went out that process, and last Friday she got the pps number, so now we would like to know what would be the next step we need to do, so she can work and apply for job positions, that regards to her master studies in economy and business administrations?

Please could you advice?

Thanks for reading
Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel,

I don´t know exactly what are the restrictions for Bulgarian/Romanian nationals in Ireland, but maybe you can find some details >>here<<.

Hoping someone in the know will reply soon with more details.

Bulgarian nationals do require work permit to take up employment for the first 12 months. After working that 12 months period they do not require any.

Have you looked into the following (since you are Italian working in Ireland and in defacto relationship for two years)

http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=463&langId=en

..but this Bulgarian national is a family member of an EU national described in Article 3(2)(b) of Directive 2004/38/EC.

So no, no work permit required.
