Hi,
I am gonna apply Tier 1 Extension along with 1 dependant in Sep 2012.
My wife joined me in Oct 2011, less than 1 year.
But I am in Uk for more than 3 years now.
1) How much should I maintain as savings as per new rules?
2) We are applying together by post.
I understand that I need to apply with following docs,
a) My application form
b) PBS dependant application form
c) My old passport that carries my Tier 1 visa
d) My new passport
e) My wife's passport
f) My 12 months bank statement, showing salary
g) My 12 months pay slips
3) Do I need to submit our marriage certificate?
4) Do I need to submit any utility bills? Our landlord pays all utility bills and we dont have anything in our name. Virgin media is in my name and Council tax is in both of ours name. Is council tax bill sufficient?
5) Anything else i missed, apart from fees :)
Thanks
Aravind.

1. You will need £900 + £600 = £1500 in total for maintenance.
2. Docs as listed.
3. No harm in including marriage certificate.
4. If you dont have your wife as a joint account holder, it is safe to include your council take to show that your relationship is still subsisting.
5. Remember to write your full name and date of birth behind the photographs.
Otherwise things look good.

Is the utility bill/council tax mandatory as per immigration rules?
Do they ask it anywhere in application form?
Or is it ok if i submit tenancy agreement as well as a proof of susbsisting relationship?
Thanks

Utility/council tax is not mandatory. For instance, I didn't submit this for our extension but we both are joint account holders with our bank and we have 3 previous visas as dependant. Since you have said you only have council tax bill with both your names, I said it be safe to include that. you can explain this in the cover letter. But this is not mandatory though.
May be some seniors can confirm this...

So in my case if it is ok with council tax bill(has both of our names) as we have no other utility bills having both of our names :-(
The only other thing I have is tenancy agreement.
I dont want to make my application complex with too many docs..
So thought only council tax would suffice..am i right?

If your wife is in UK for less than 12 months, then the minimum balance amount to be £1600 for your wife alone + yours.

This is not correct. The maintenance funds is based on the main applicants stay in the UK. if the main applicant has been in the UK for more than 12 months, you will have to show just £600 for the dependant. It is £1600 only if the main applicant has been in the UK for less than a year.
Seniors pls correct me if I am wrong.

1) Is 1600£ maintenance(for dependant) applicable if dependant staying less that 12 months or applicable for main applicant staying less than 12 month?
2) Marriage certificate is in english but issued in India which my wife used for entry clearance successfully....is that ok?

Thanks Vignezh.
I have two passports.. My old passport expired which has the Tier 1 visa stamping.
At question C6 in application form
C6. Please give details of the
"applicant’s current passport"
or travel document and any others that he/she has used to travel to and remain in the United Kingdom
"and which shows his/her current leave".
Please note that for the application to be valid and complete the applicant’s current passport/travel document must be provided unless it is not available for one of the reasons specified on the application form
The statement in quote looks contradictory in my case.
I think I should fill current passport details first followed by old passport and mention it in covering letter.
Should that be ok?

Regarding maintenance its so confusing from this page,
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ce-changes
It says , "Dependents of Tier 1 applicants WHO have been in the UK for less than 12 months"
"WHO" is for dependants or Tier 1 migrants?
very confused...i am planning to enquire ukba...can someone send me the correct email address i need to enquire in UKBA

It is
not required to prove a "subsisting relation" in a tier-1 general extension application.

Hi,
My case is little bit different. My wife came UK first time on Tier 1 dependent visa before 15 month but her total stay in UK is less than a year as she travelled India multiple times)
I need to apply for her visa extension. Could anyone please suggest how much fund I need to show. Will it be £900 or £1800?
Regards
Swapnil
