Lost Passport

Post by ayoadebayo » Fri Apr 20, 2012 11:31 am

Dear all, my friend just got a letter from UKBA that they cannot find her passport and that she needs to send it to them so that her psw visa could be processed. The fact is that she sent her passport along with her application on the 1st of Feb. What could be wrong? Is it possible that UKBA has misplaced her passport? What should be the next line of action?

Yes. It's possible. If she sent it with her application, then tell them so.

Does the fact that she received an acknowledgement means they received all her documents intact? I hope this does not degenerate into a long drawn battle... :( :( :(

Send them a copy of the acknowledgement as proof that they have her passport.

no as the acknowledgement letter doesn't generally say what documents have been recieved or confirm that the application is valid.

Did she complete the summary sheet at the back of the form indicating the documents she provided with the application and did she list the passport on this sheet? Did she keep a copy of the form and her passport?

I will try to find out from her if she did fill the summary sheet. She has a copy of her passport and she has sent a proof of the acknowledgment to UKBA this morning

the acknowledgement doesn't really get here anywhere for the reasons explained- the summary sheet is far more important

because the UKBA will have a copy of the summary sheet completed with the application - so if they have the form they will have the sheet which should list what was included - and this adds more weight to her argument that she included it with the application. I have had cases before where the sheet either wasn't completed or the document they claimed was missing wasn't mentioned on the list and UKBA have used this to say that this is evidence it was never included.

Won't be the first time a passport has been lost. It happens. Best to call them and speak to them.
